Please navigate to the link below for step-by-step instructions on how to update your Orbi model system::
Be sure to update the RBS FIRST, then the RBR lastly.
I HIGHLY recommend after the FW is loaded on the system and it's back to ready, power OFF all Orbi units and the ISP modem/ONT for 1 minute. Then back ON with the ISP modem/ONT first, then RBR then RBS.
The best advise we can give people is to start a new config, power on one RBS and wait for some SOLID light or most often blue or magenta. And then add the RBS WIRELESSLY via the WebUI. Power off the RBS. Then rinse and repeat with any additional RBS(s). Pair RBS one at a time even if you have more than one. For ethernet connected RBS, after things come up wirelessly, you can move to wired backhaul but don't start with wired backhaul for those RBS that are ethernet connected. Wirelessly connect and sync RBS first before ethernet connecting RBS.
NOTE: Orbi app or the routers web page may not report seeing new FW updates. NG may not push this to there auto update services immediately and may activate the newer FW update being seen on there auto update services at a later time. User will have the choice to manually update if you want too.
NOTE: The Disable Auto Update feature only prevents ANY new FW from being installed if available. This does NOT prevent the system from checking NG services to see if new FW is available. If new FW is available, this will be displayed as a notification to the user on the RBRs web page only. It will be up to the user to upgrade FW or not.
A factory reset maybe needed if problems are encountered after the FW update:
https://kb.netgear.com/31486/How-do-I-reset-my-Orbi-system-to-factory-default-settings
NOTE: Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200

- All these models getting firmware updates but nothing for the 950 series which is essentially the 960?

Thanks Furry!
- owlynLuminaryJust updated 960 router and two satellites. Didn’t do anything special, just one satellite at a time and then the router. So far, looks good.
BYW, I can’t find the thread on Reddit, or I would post there, too.Good hear. Hope to update my two systems and check them out soon.
It's there.

On my 960s there are no hiccups with the latest firmware. Much appreciated. And the Orbi app, oy vey! Some days it works and some days it does not.
- owlynLuminaryThe Orbi app is crap. It shows my laptop as blocked even when I am online with the laptop , either wired directly to the router, or on WiFi. It shows properly on the web interface.
Something to post over in the Orbi app section of the forums.

- KMDonlonVirtuosoSo far, so good. Seems like a few 2.4 devices are a bit finiky to connect quickly... will keep an eye out.
Also, digging the new icons!- KMDonlonVirtuosoWell, I reverted back to V7.2.6.31_5.0.24. Odd connection issues with the satellite and when I downgraded the firmware of the satellite first it would auto update back to 7.2.7.15 within a minute or two. Definitely some major bugs.
Which orbi model system do you have?
I'd give a factory reset and setup from scratch after v.15 is applied. If your seeing issues, a FR would be needed to help check this. Not a major issue if you don't check this a bit more.
Mines been online since the other day. FW was applied, power cycled, the FR and setup from scratch with 3 RBS wirelessly connected. Not seeing any issues at the RBS. I have a R7960P in wireless bridge mode connected to on of the RBS. I was watching TV with my DISH Joey connected ethernet to the R7960P just fine yesterday.

Hi,
Noticed twice today and yesterday evening that the RBR850 is rebooting with this new version. Worked stable for one-two days but I am now experiencing these issues? Any thoughts?
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and satellites been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network. What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, IPv6, Smart Parental Controls or Circle, Traffic Meter. After updating mine, I power cycled mine and then factory reset and setup from scratch. After getting it all setup, been online and working great for me.

854 series working great on this version of FW:

This update has been working great on my RBR850 series. Updated the satellites first and then the router on Friday night. It has been running solid the entire weekend without needing to reboot.
- KMDonlonVirtuosoWhat firmware version did you guys have loaded before updating? I recall a lot of folks had issues with V7.2.6.31 and were back to running V7. 2.6.21...
- JustNeedSpeedAspirantI have RBRE960E Router and 3 RBSE960B Satellites. Ever since the February update, the router and satellites are rebooting 6-10 times a day at random times? I have manually factory reset all the units, and reset up the network. However it is still causing issues. It was rock solid prior to the update?
Firmware version 7.2.7.15- liamscorApprenticeSo far the update has been fine for me with the RBKE963B, I haven't experienced any reboots, do you have and specific config you are using or just mainly the default settings?

I am experiencing dropouts on both wired and unwired. I am going to go back to the stable .21 firmware as it was completely stable.
I would factory reset and setup from scratch. I saw 30 days good solid up time with no issues on my 850 series on this version of FW.

Firmware Version 7.2.7.15 auto-installed in my RBR850 and four RBS850 satellites last night between 1-2AM and broke the crap out of my network. I had to scramble just to get the one 'work from home' computer going for my wife before I left for work myself.
All these devices were kicked off the wireless and not being accepted back on (5GHz) after the update - 4 Rokus, 2 Modern Smartphones, 4 Ring Cameras. The 5GHz band was pretty much unusable (still broadcasting and still detectable, but not accepting any devices connections)
Some 2.4GHz devices could not reconnect - a Moen Faucet, some Ring Stick-Up cameras, some lights.
PHYSICAL RJ45 CONNECTIONS on the router would not assign IP addresses to PCs directly connected to them with a cable (WTF).
Firmware Version 7.2.7.15 was a complete poison pill for my network. The only way I could recover tonight was to reload Firmware Version 7.2.6.31, factory reset the router, and start all over again with my setup. I've now disabled firmware updates.
I'm normally the kind of person who takes software updates, but this kind of behavior makes me weary.
I ran my 850 series for a solid 30+ days with out issues:
Though I manually loaded FW on mine first and then factory reset and setup from scratch. Good after that.
Automatic Update system has never been 100% IMO. Have asked to help test that but crickets. Which doesn't give releasing FW versions a good wrap.
Either keep AU disabled and give the manual FW update process a try with v.15:
One thing that seems broke on v.15 is IPv6 for those that need IPv6. My ISP doesn't support native so I don't have a need for it. Otherwise, keep what works for you I guess.

You neglected to mention that Version 7.2.7.15 breaks IPv6 for RBR850 and RBS850.
I tried to reach out to customer support (a few weeks back), but they wanted me to pay to report a bug Netgear introduced through this firmware update.
In short: you reboot the router, and IPv6 works for a moment (a minute or two) then stops working. Resetting the router does not work. Other routers with the same cable modem work fine with IPv6.
Many reported the same issue on multiple forums.
Yes v.15 breaks IPv6 on Orbi systems. We've already passed this on to NG support. No idea when it will be fixed. Can use v.15 if you have a work around for it or revert back to v.21 or last good working version of FW.

I tried reverting back to the old firmware (other users reported success getting IPv6 working again with the downgrade), but it did not work for me.
I would downgrade the satellites first, and as I am about to downgrade the main router, I see the satellites, after successfully downgrading, upgraded to the latest (and broken) firmware on their own, even though I have auto-update turned off.
I tried the downgrading 3 times before giving up.
