Netgear NH - RS70 (No USB ReadyShare)
Been using USB Readyshare on C7000v2 Modem/Router Combo since purchased a few years ago. Needed to add a new Separate Netgear RS70 router and it's clearly understood that USB Readyshare is deactivated when C7000v2 router mode turned off and put into "Bridge Mode - Modem Only" to work with the newly purchased RS70 router. However, I started thinking how I could get USB Readyshare to work if turned router mode back on and disabled all wifi signals and DHCP server to avoid conflict with new RS70 router. Works great when connected to PC only "without" new RS70 router, but once new RS70 router is added into the connections - unable to get any internet connection... So what am I missing??
Any Help or Suggestions are welcome... :-)
- Cat 5e from C7000v2 to PC gets internet and USB Readyshare works great.
- Cat 5e from C7000v2 to WAN port new RS70 router and Cat5e from new RS70 router LAN port to PC unable to get any internet connection thus no Readyshare either...
- Is there an IP Address needed on the RS70 Router or C7000v2 WAN or LAN settings?

So when you put the C series gateway into modem only mode, did you power OFF both modem and RS router for 1 minute then back ON then check to see if you get internet access services first here?

Thanks for reply - But the no internet issue only occurs when in router mode with WiFi signals and DHCP server turned off. Modem/Bridge only gets internet but then I lose the USB Readyshare connection. I think it's something to do with basically connecting modem/router to router settings or how Cat5e cables are connected??
For the C series modem in modem only mode, the RS should have WIFI and DHCP services enabled. Modem only mode on the C series gateway disables wifi and router portion of the modem and just works as a modem. You'll need to power OFF both modem and RS router for 1 minute then back ON and the RS should be getting normal internet services here.
And you have the storage device connected to the RS router?

You clearly are NOT understanding - Read the Original post slowly...
Yep, it's been read.
Maybe put the C series back in router mode and connect the storage device to the gateway, disable WiFI radios on the modem and configure AP mode on the RS router.

RS70 Must be Primary Router

As you have found you can't get ReadySHARE to work in modem only mode on the C7000v2.
Disabling wifi and DHCP on the modem/router still leaves you with the router active. You end up with two routers creating a messy network.
You could put the RS70 into access point mode, leaving the C7000v2 to manage the traffic.
You can also turn off the wifi on the C7000v2 to avoid conflicts with the RS70.
Whether or not this works for you depends on what you want the RS70 to do. In AP mode you run into this:
Disabled Features on the Router when set to AP Mode | Answer | NETGEAR Support

There is no IP address that you can use to get at ReadySHARE.
The trouble with those cable modems is that they aren't much use if you try to take them off piste. That's unlike DSL modem/routers which you can use as an AP to maintain their ReadySHARE function.
Why does the RS70 have to be in router mode/act as primary?
You can use the C7000 in router mode with its full capabilities and the RS70 in access point mode. You can even leave the wifi enabled on the C7000 if you'd like. Just make sure its on different wifi channels and using a different ssid.

This whole new equipment thing started because I wanted to introduce a Netgear LM1200 4G Modem as Backup/Failover which would not work with C7000v2 as modem/router combo.
That's where the New RS70 (No USB Readyshare) comes in and then I discovered the C7000v2 Readyshare gets deactivated in Modem Only Mode. Just trying to find a creative solution to regain access to my USB Drive short of buying RS200 that has a USB port for Readyshare. Or even a USB to ethernet dongle if there is such a thing? Thanks...
Since the RS70 doesn't have a USB port and you want the drive and this model router to work in router mode, you'll need a different RS series router with a USB port to support the USB driver over Readyshare.

Does that duo work as you want?
Start there and fill in the other gaps.
If you don't want to configure your network to use the USB on the C7000v2, then you will have to try something else.
Netgear has dropped USB Readyshare from many recent routers. If it isn't too late, return the RS70 for something that does.
This time check before you part with your money. The RAX range is Readyshare friendly. So are some of the RS routers. Forget about Orbi and MK# devices.
If you can find it, even something ancient can add Readyshare to a new router. I have a venerable R7800 in AP mode doing Readyshare duty in my network. You could find something lying around somewhere, but don't expect a cable modem/router to work. As I said earlier, for various reasons those things are much less flexible than other devices.
I feel like you're trying really hard to get ready share to work.
so what you want.
- readyshare
- failover to the lm1200
sound right?
If so, I'd check into a router that supports dual wan with failover and a USB device. It won't be netgear as those are more business class requirements.

Thank You Everyone Offering Many Ideas - I will take into consideration. However, I feel all the devices I have should be able to talk to each other...
Will first try a few more things before throwing in the towel - Any other suggestions please let me know!!
Respectfully, Blaze
If you have a USB drive that your trying to use for ReadyShare on a NG router while in router mode, then you'll need an RS router model that has the USB port in back for the USB drive to be connected to. The RS70 doesn't have a USB port. One of the RS models should have a USB port. My RS600 has USB port and I believe some of the other models do as well.
Checking, first model RS seen with a USB port is the RS200. I presume that model and up have USB ports.

Yep - Seen that RS200 online yesterday... Thanks
