#19436397 5.3.6 ARM-Unable to use ReadyNAS remote
Hi
Duo V2
Since upgrading to 5.3.6 users have been unable to access log into the NAS via ReadyNAS remote.
I get "ReadyNAS Remote Online - Andy Asker" but it never actually connects to the server itself using "Connect to ReadyNAS"
In Radiator ReadyNAS remote is marked as "Internet Connection" and "Online".
-Checked Readynas Remote is enabled
-Removed/Readded Accounts.
-Created new ReadyNAS remote Account
-Disabled Router/OS firewall
-Reinstalled latest client
-Removed latest client 1.6.5.18, full clean up with CCleaner, reinstalled 1.6.5.18
-Tried without encryption
-Tried on Mac
-Rebooted ReadyNAS Box twice.
-Rebooted pc several times.
-FTP access working fine.
Same problem, cannot access shares. Help!
Thanks
Andy

- bhw752kAspirantRozel, what you are describing has happened to me as well. It is because we both attempted to manually install the ReadyNAS Remote addon when really we shouldn't have. Here's how I fixed the problem:
Make sure you remove the ReadyNAS Remote addon from the addons section.
Download the 82 MB firmware update file:
http://www.readynas.com/download/RAIDiator-arm/5.3.6/RAIDiator-arm-5.3.6
Go to System > Settings and click the 'Update Firmware' button under the UPDATE heading. Then browse to your downloaded 82 MB file to update, apply, and restart. This will re-install the firmware and hopefully should correct the ReadyNAS Remote conflict.
Then when your ReadyNAS has finished restarting, make sure you reload the Dashboard, bypassing your browser's cache.
I believe ReadyDrop is sort of a Dropbox clone that uses your ReadyNAS in place of the Dropbox servers. ReadyNAS Remote appears to be a prerequisite for using ReadyDrop.
Hope that helps. - rozelAspirantI appreciate that but have done all that already.
I no longer have any conflict, I can see the two new sections and can switch them on or off easily now. I have also upgraded my PC's and Android's apps to the latest versions.
My problem is that they will not connect to my server. I can log-in to Remote but the server refuses to come online. That is my problem.
I may have a go at port-forwarding as an earlier post suggested before returning to 5.3.5.
Can somebody assist me with what I should do both at my server, ReadyNas Remote and my router please? And can you confirm that by doing this that: -
1. I can retain the existing port-forwarding settings which I have for Plex?
2. That my Users will not have to do anything other than upgrade their client softwares?
Cheers - akammingAspirantTry to do an os reinstall., by selecting it from the boot menu. That fixed it for me
- rozelAspirantYes ok - I will do that - can you confirm though that you had the same "non-connection" problems as I am experiencing please?

In theory they should do the same thing, but the "OS reinstall" does some different steps than a "firmware update".
This step should not be required, and we are looking in to a few angles to see what we can do to help prevent that step in the coming releases. akamming wrote: I had the same issues after the firmware upgrade. Symptons vague
- sometimes no remote settings in raidiator
- sometimes they were visible, but no matter how hard i tried turning remote or readydrop on. After a refresh of me explorer age remote sometimes returned to diabled
- often both readydrop and remote did not work (nas unreachable)
I did a manual reinstall of the firmware and then an os reinstall boot menu. Now everything works fine.
Only 1 remaining issue. From the android app only anonymous access is working. I did not try this before the firmware upgrade. So i don't know if this is related. Does anyone know how to solve?
I was thinking on the phone to try to updste your readynas remote app and check before you connect since the new update trys to connect with cifs and not ftp , which either way after loging on you need a userid on the nas and not just remote.
Also though I have a v1 readynas on the pc's been fickle. I had to close it after install and run as admin to improve chance to connect on my win7 PC and my Vista there seems to be a diferent problem with both sayin incorrect username or password. Its better than last update but still fickle.- rozelAspirantGuys - before I try an OS reinstall, can I please ask again if those that have done it, did you experience non-connection problems before and were they fixed? I have already done a firmware reinstall and this fixed the non-showing of the two icons for ReadyNas Remote and ReadyDrop. I no longer have this problem.
I simply cannot get my users to be able to login nor can I through my Android app. - Golem72AspirantSame thing here. Just bought readynas duo v2. Remote behind settings turn offs every time i'll go backend (dashboard) and come back. and readydrop is stucked off. i can't change it. It's grey.
I've also a problem with remote client for windows. After installation it says "Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined." I tried to do right click run as admin. Nothing:(
Win 7
IE9 and chrome - akammingAspirant@techman05 wht do you suggest? How can i update the remote app on the readynas? It's emedded in the firmware since 5.3.6
