Video Stuttering / RN312 6.1.6 / Panasonic TV
Running 6.1.6 on a RN312 with DLNA and I am seeing videos pause/stutter quite regularly. Have had the same network setup with a Duo without this issue and 6.0.8 was fine on the RN312. It's not due to hi-def bitrates (mostly standard def) but it does seem to do it with MP4 more than divx/xvid.
If I put the video on a usb and play directly to the TV it works perfectly - so doesnt seem to be the TV
Everything points to the network connection (powerline adaptors that run at ~250-300mbit through a gigabit WNDR3700 router) - but as I say, it was running perfectly for a long time and now its almost every video. A quick pause/rewind gets the video started again and it does this 2-3 times per 40min show. I have swapped out the powerline adaptors and they seem to be fine - but will try a direct network cable connection to the router this weekend.
Thoughts?

- Installed 6.1.7 RC1 on the weekend and started getting the stuttering - strange as I presume it included the above fix. Reverted to 6.1.6 + patch but still getting stuttering. Confirmed its not the actual video file as it plays perfectly from USB in TV.
- sfigatto76AspirantHi guys,
many thanks to skywalker. Your solution works fine.
I have been testing from last friday and it's perfect.
It solved also the usb external hard disk problem.
Back up jobs on those disks now works, before that I have had several problem.
I contacted also the netgear customer service and I explained which was the solution, I am waiting for the reply.
Thanks again Skywalker and tanks to the forum
See you

Yes, that is strange. Maybe try RC4. Do you get anything in the log saying something like "Exceeded max connections"? (systemctl status -n200 minidlna) - Which log should I check? There isnt one specifically for DLNA/UPNP.
I think in my case it might be a combination of things - will replace the powerline network with a cable on the weekend and see what that does. - SkywalkerNETGEAR ExpertFrom the command line, the text in the parentheses I posted will do it. If you download the log .zip, it's not split out so it will be contained in systemd-journal.log.

Sorry didnt read your instructions. I see "ReadyNAS minidlnad[1778]: process.c:54: warn: Exceeded max connections [50], not forking" in the log over a period of several minutes.- SkywalkerNETGEAR ExpertWow, that's pretty bad behavior by the TV. That's quite a lot of connections they're keeping open. I wonder why. I suppose it could be network-related, but it's hard to say. You could try bumping up the max connection limit by doing something like:
echo max_connections=250 >> /etc/minidlna.conf.local - An update;
1/ Changing max_connections didnt alleviate the issue
2/ Changing connection from Powerline ethernet over power to direct cable from the router worked - no stuttering.
Cant explain why the previous software patch change worked - likely something was coincidentally intermittently interfering with the Powerline network. - bazbrian1Aspirant

Another way to do this would be to download the package onto your PC http://www.readynas.com/packages/readynasos/dists/experimental/main/pool/m/minidlna/minidlna_1.1.2~6cef303-netgear1_armel.deb, then install it using the Upload button in the Apps tab of the GUI. Note that you'd need to either reboot or disable and re-enable the ReadyDLNA service for the change to take effect.
I have a RN10200 firmware 6.1.6 and finding the same stuttering problem. I also have a ReadyNAS Duo 2000 firmware 4.1.13 that doesn't seem to have this problem. I have the same file on the Duo and RN10200. Both NASs are connected to the same switch that then connects to another switch in another room that has a PVR and the Panasonic TV connected. Stream the file from Duo - OK. Stream from RN10200 and sometimes get stuttering. If I pause for a few seconds, fast forward (though the "previously on ...") then press play it seems to fix it.
What exactly does the file minidlna_1.1.2~6cef303-netgear1_armel.deb do? Is this suitable for my RN10200?
I'm wondering if I made a mistake getting the RN10200, but that's what I have now. - SkywalkerNETGEAR ExpertYou may want to try 6.1.7-RC5, posted in the public beta forum (viewtopic.php?f=154&t=72282).
