Enabling SMB2 on ReadyNAS Pro
Attempted to enable SMB2 per the instructions linked below; namely, added the line min protocol = SMB2 to the [Gobal] section of the /etc/samba/smb.conf file on the NAS. Then restarted the NAS, but upon attempting to connect to the NAS from a Windows 10 PC (start > run \\<IPAddress>) the error displayed below still persists
I did connect via SSH again to the NAS again to confirm that the line "min protocol = SMB2" is still present in the smb.conf file; it was. Any advise would be appreciated, thank you.

Re: Enabling SMB2 on ReadyNAS Pro
We're an IT provider - we can't and won't, in good conscience, advise that anyone do that.
Incidentally, if the error msg displayed at teh client (above) is not displaying, it's "You can't connect to the file share because it's not secure. This share requires the obsolete SMB1 protocol, which is unsafe and could expose your system to attack."

Re: Enabling SMB2 on ReadyNAS Pro
As pointed out on your other thread, your other option is to convert the Pro to run OS-6. That is not supported by Netgear, but many have done it. The process requires reformatting the drives, so all data would need to be reloaded from backup.
You can see more information on the process here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS-in-Business/Lost-contact-with-NAS-after-upgradi...

Re: Enabling SMB2 on ReadyNAS Pro
My hope (expectation, based on others' results) is that SMB2 support could be enabled with RAIDiator 4.2.3 .... or is that not available in these legacy versions of firmware?

Re: Enabling SMB2 on ReadyNAS Pro
There is an experimental configuration flag that could be set - I haven't tried it, and don't know how buggy that early implementation is.
There is an old post here that describes how one person made this work: https://community.netgear.com/t5/New-ReadyNAS-Users-General/Support-for-SMB2/m-p/1007083#M9336
smb.conf does have a warning in it, saying that it is autogenerated. I don't know when the system regenerates though.

Re: Enabling SMB2 on ReadyNAS Pro
regarding smb on 4.x Netgear really needs to provide a better supported solution for this as the issue is only going to keep reoccuring as more people upgrade to new versions of windows over time.

Re: Enabling SMB2 on ReadyNAS Pro
I do hope you left off a digit in the version. 4.2.3 is ancient.
