Orbi Firmware 2.3.1.60
Welp, anyone have any notes on this thing? It's already downloaded to my router and satellite waiting for me to pull the pin.
Hi,
Just for information, when you're in the Firmware Update page and it downloads new firmware to install, the version number next to both the router and the satellite is a clickable link.
If you click the link, it will show you the release notes of all changes between your currently installed firmware and the update.
Although, this "feature" is not hidden, it's not always obvious that it's there either.

What model Orbi do you have? 20, 30, 40 or 50 series?
I nothing posted as of yet for this version of FW.
RBR50/RBS50 - not listed in the Model selection field.
Keep checking the download web site for posted release notes...if your system is running with out any problems, I'd hold off for now.
I presume this version maybe for only the 50 series Orbi. 40, 30 and 20 series may not be available as of yet on there web page.
It's not available for download on NGs download web site pages currently. I presume NG will be making the files available soon.
- gr8shoVirtuosoThe omnipresent “security fixes”... ugh.
Guess I’ll have to move now.:smileyvery-happy:

After hitting the "Update All" button, everything came back online in ~10mins.
Orbi/Satellites Backhaul Status looks good:

Even with telnet enabled, I'm now unable to telnet in when I could before. Clearly nothing changed for you! Strange... I simply get an error
[Could not create a new process and open a pseudo-tty.]
I'm on Apple Macos 10.14.4 - perhaps apple has made it impossible in its updating. Anyone have success with an apple?

Same for me - almost 12 hours into use for the updated firmware. Working pretty well, no problem encountered.
Tera Term is a nice telnet program for Windows. Use it all the time.

My RBR50 updated to .60 without any issues but my RBS50 is stuck on .48. It shows "Waiting for connection" on the firmware update page.
Rebooted twice, no luck. Any suggestions to get my sattelite also updated to .60? I do not see any firmware downloads links for manual update.
Maybe there isn't one. They don't always go side by side, especially for satellites.

Satellites pull their Wireless Settings from the main Router. If there's a misconfigured Wireless setting or any setting for that matter, it will affect all Satellites. Otherwise, common wireless issue is often traced back to the main Router settings unless there's an issue like hardware failure specific that one Satellite, stale configs were still stuck in NVRAM, which requires reset to clear, or weak Backhaul between Satellites/Router.
I would be very interest in any special config that's only configurable via Satellite. That would be nice to know as well. :-)

I had that exact same problem. I cycled the power on my 'errant' satellite which resulted in it then correctly showing the required firmware update. I then did a manual update and just selected that particulare satellite. Then all was fine.

A couple of question if I may
- Does re-booting the router also re-boot the satellites?
- Also is there a way to re-boot individual satellites?
Thanks

Both my RBR50 and RBS50 want to download the latest firmware and have never been able to and TBH it's quite annoying.
What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?Can you select the RBS first to update?
What browser are you using?

- gr8shoVirtuosoIf I saw something not working that's supposed to work, it would probably lead me down a road that some here refer to as the "nuclear option", which is to grab a paperclip and perform a full factory reset. The problem is unlikely to fix itself, unless of course the servers are temporarily unavailable. However, I just checked and I do see v60 is offered on the Firmware Update page.

Really don’t know what all the drama is. I logged into the app, it said update available, downloaded and installed firmware, Orbi works just as awesome as it always has. Bravo Netgear....
- MikeG63ApprenticeWell said - I couldn’t agree more 👍

2.3.1.48 is the version on both RBR50 and RBS50
Lets see what version of FW is loaded first. He may be on a old version which may not work for him until he gets it more up to date or there is a NG service issue or possible ISP modem issue. Lets find out first what he's got going currently.

Screenshot attached...... latest firmware and works perfectly on both router and satellite.

to get to 2.3.1.48 I had to email the CEO of Netgear otherwise I would not get support then I got a call from netgear technical and they had to download from the website and put on both devices but as of yet 60 is not listed yet.
For everyones knowledge. NG has now posted the v60 FW update files for manual download. This is for the 50 series Orbi systems. RBR and RBS only.

Enjoy. :smileywink:
The RBR I have is working nicely on this version. :smileyvery-happy:

I updated from .44 using web GUI and the standard method offered there. I also cold started both devices afterwards for good measure. I’ll probably also factory reset at some point as well to see if WiFi performance improves, to clear NVRAM changes I made, and to validate if auto updates are truly fixed.
