Samsung Galaxy S8 not working on Orbi RBR40
Galaxy S8 keeps connecting Orbi wifi with message "internet may not be available" then logging off again but all other devices including iOs, TV and laptop can connect quite well. I'm using 1000M internet connection in Hong Kong with maximum speed around 450-550M in my other router - ASUS RT-AC68U. This Orbi only runs around 250M something. I'm very disappointed.

No update from verizon yet :( I am contemplating of returning this expensive piece of hardware...
I'm on Orbi V1.12.0.18 for RBR50 and RBS50 and checking for updates say there's nothing available. How are peopel on .20?
My S8 has had this issue like others. Didn't know about guest network workaround so will do that for now. Waiting for Verizon to patch it hopefully.

The update aint doing nothing anyway... I think we need to wait for verizon update.
- GB2379AspirantI am having same issue with Samsung S8+ and Orbi. Phone stays connected with strong signal but "internet may not be available". Setting up the guest network and allowing access to my home network has worked like a champ. No drop offs and I can still access media devices on my home network (Sonos, smart tv, etc). Thank you to whomever figured that out and posted!!!
People's wifi connection fails after their PHONE receives a firmware update and people lash out at Netgear rather than Samsung?

Other devices are confirmed to be experiencing the same behavior, not just the S8+.
Chromecasts, iOS devices, Surface Pro (2017)'s.

Let's not mix all these things and stay on topic. The problem with Samsung has a clear start in a form of software update and clear end - new software update. Samsung S8 problem is really severe and reproducable by every single owner with updated software. If you search the Internet, you find that S8 stopped working properly with Google WiFi and some other connected systems.
Many people never had any problems with iOS devices, Chromecast or something else. I have 4 iOS devices of different generations, from iPad Air the newest 10.5 Pro and they are perfectly happy with Orbi.
- I also have problems with keeping a connection between my Orbi (RBK50) system (updated to latest firmware 1.12.0.18 on both the router and satellite and then rebooted) and my Samsung Galaxy S8+ (unlocked edition). Everything is updated to the latest firmware and software updates. This system drops the connection more often than a drunk clown juggling balls. This behavior is only apparent on the Samsung Galaxy S8+ and does not affect any of my other 15+ wireless connections. Very frustrating. I have about 30 days before my return period is over. I would really like to keep this system due to the Ethernet ports on each base unit.
- warrrd01InitiateJust chiming in. Same issue with Verizon Samsung galaxy s8+ and running orbi rbk50 router and satellite. Got the orbi last december and the s8+ in april. No issues until last week of july when the Wi-Fi signal shows strong but internet access cuts out every few minutes. All of this seemed to start with Verizon update. I just received a new s8+ today, got everything installed and connected with no issues. The phone then did a Verizon update this afternoon and lo and behold, the ! Internet connectivity issues are occuring again on the brand new phone. I have no issues with the other 15+ devices on wifi including older galaxy phones, tablets, laptops, tv's, etc.
Well... I'm officially done wiith the Orbi. Bought the RBK53 from Costco. Worked great until the latest firmware from Netgear. Then, like everyone else my Gs8+would get constant "No Internet" disconnects. So I returned it for another RBK53 and did the telnet script so it would not update the firmware. I did manually update to 1.11.0.20 which had no issues with internet disconnects. Everything was fine for about a week and then we had a quick power outage. The next more the Orbi was on the newest firmware and my phone started the disconnects. I had to take my AC66 out of retirement just to set up an AP JUST for my phone. I've moved on. Got the Linksys Velop and couldn't be happier. No disconnects, all bars, and super fast speed. Plus wired backhaul. Thanks for nothing Netgear. You'll push out a firmware for Apple users but drag your feet on Android. Thankfully I bought them from Costco!
I seem to have fixed my problems with my RBK50 and my Samsung S8+. I followed the instructions I saw on another post to solve the problem. Step 1 was to update Router and Satellite firmware to latest version (1.12.0.18) from the Netgear Orbi site https://netgear.com/support/product/RBK50.aspx#download . Then I factory reset both the router and sattellite by inserting a pin into the reset button on each unit. Then I used the app to set up the system as a new installation. This has solved my problems so far (48 hours of heavy usage). Best of luck to everyone else.
- On my Galaxy S8 was disconnecting and reconnecting sometimes every 10 min or some time less. Read about someone creating a guest account on the orbi router and tried it and so far it's been more than 12 hours of solid connection without dropping wifi signal.

Luisfernan same issue for my s8+ I am on verizon and have RBR50, not sure what Netgear Engineering is doing to address if anything at all.
- JMU1998 it doesn't matter if it's Verizon, Att or t mobile, it's the update Samsung did on July that it's not working with orbi. Just try the guest connection
- ameetpGuide
Yes, but you cant control any smart things in your home. for exampe, Sono, Hue, etc.
- I can control my Arlo and my vine thermostat even on the guest connection. Give yours a try
Make sure that you also report these problems to Verizon Support so that they can work with Samsung. These problems with the internet connection probems on th Orbi started occurring for most people after the July Galaxy S8 update on Verizon. So they need to work with Samsung to get this resolved. As noted everyone, Orbi works just fine with all other devices, the problem is the Galaxy S8 on Verizon.

Its most likely the phone. There is a guy on reddit who got a new s8 because of this issue and has old software on the device and isnt having the issues on Orbi like the rest of us. Not even using the guest network work around.

The issue isn't limited to the S8/S8+.
It impacts Ring Chime, Surface Pro 3's, Surface Pro (2017's), Amazon Echos, Amazon Taps, Amazon Dots, Chromecasts Gen 1 & Gen 2 and Chamberline Garage Door Controllers.

Resetting the Orbi and the satellites does not fix the problem. it did start with the latest upload from samsung for the S8 I actually decided to switch to using the Verizon WIFI until either Verizon or Netgear fixed the problem. I am able to get reception through out my whole house however it is weak in some areas. it is better then the constant drops

I am beyond frustrated and have wrote reviews on Amazon and Costco for people to stay away from this product - It is unstable and unusable for the past month. Support is slow and non-helpful.
Just installed the Verizon update on my Galaxy S8 plus. Connectivity still a problem. No internet connection after several minutes.
All other devices on the Orbi Network have always worked just fine, which includes iphone, ipads, Sonos, Alexa, Lutron Home Automation, Ring Door Bell, security cameras, 3 laptop, 2 desktop, numberous streaming devices and televisions.
The only failture on my home network is he Orbi with the Galaxy S8, continued internet connection drops. Thankfully, I have a iPhone that I can use on the network to control all the home automation devices.
Good News....my Obri Network is now stable and keeping internet connections. After the most recent Verizon update for the Galaxy S8+, I reset my WiFi connections on the Galaxy S8 and reconnected to my Orbi network. I have now been connected since last evening without any internet connection problems.
- Just updated to AQH3 on my US unlocked S8+. Since swapping out the Orbi with Samsung's mesh, the issue persisted prior to today's update. I'm on my way home now to test things now that Samsung has finally released an update.
- vargoose84InitiateJust received Verizon's update NRD90M.G950USQU1AQGL
WiFi seems to work like a peach. No more need for guest wifi.

Updated my S8+ on T-Mobile, seems to have fixed the issues as well, so far, so good!
- Same here. Been working great all day. Finally!!
- jlangnerTutor
When did you get a update from T-Mobile. Still nothing here.
