xr500 LAN ports sometime will stop working
hi i need some help sometime my netgear nighthawk xr500 LAN ports stops working.wifi work fine not sure how to fix it. can anybody help me

- Go to settings > administration > firmware update. Upload the firmware you downloaded then upgrade

My issue seems similar but maybe slightly different. My PS4 Pro will randomly report that the "LAN cable has been disconnected" XR500. It never loses the connection for very long, most often just a split second. I have the most recent firmware V2.3.2.32 running. When this problem first started happening I bought a brand new Cat6 as I figured that was the problem.
The only support I have left at this time is hardware and these forums. I'm not paying to get support for a faulty product that should have worked right from day one. So hopefully I can find some help here, otherwise I'll have to return this modem which I really don't want to do.
Hi - have you tried using a different Ethernet port on the router in case there is a faulty one?
Also, have you raised a ticket with NETGEAR's official support? If you raise a case there, they will be able to give you full support too.

I guess, like everyone else, can you please send me the firmware update that gets my LAN ports working again?The latest firmware was only just released - could you please check which version of the firmware you're on? You should be able to get the latest version without us sending it via PM since it's now publicly available; you might just need to install it.
I just started having the same issue. My logs are filled with [DoS Attack: ACK Scan] alerts.
Having the same problem with my router, using the latest available firmware XR500 V2.3.2.32
Every 24hours the LAN ports drop out and stay disconnected until I soft reboot the router.
This is a major issue for me as the computers dropping out are an essential part of the network and expected to be available 24x7 by other devices on the network.
Any advice on how to correct this issue, If we can't get this stable I will have to return the router to the store and go with another company.
- On your Xbox please enable Energy Saving mode, if PS4 fully power off dont let it standby.
Reason being we've identified they affect the way the router connects when they wake up. Let us know if that resolves the issue.This doesn't resolve the issue. I have many physical computers running linux connected to the network and everything connected to LAN disconnects at the same time.
If the Xbox is turned off while the LAN drops when its turned back on it can't connect to the LAN network either

Hi. I have the exact same problem with my XR500 for the last month they have been telling people to turn off instant on for there consoles but will not release a fix. The router is the problem cause no other router from netgear has this issue. Netduma Frazer.. You shouldnt have to turn off instant on so the router can work. Come out with a fix. Plus that doesnt fully fix it anyways. My wife called me today saying all lan ports have no connection. and its been 2 weeks of instant on being turned off but still yet today it happened again. I had to reset the router then the modem remotley in order for the console and other lan ports to have connection again.. Frazer are you guys even working on a fix?????? any progress at all yet or what?????? 289.95 is a lot of money come on guys this router should be much better than this. answer me that Frazer. Like i said instant on has been off for two weeks and today all lan ports had no connection...........
- Hi Shaun, it sounds like it resolved your issue for awhile so there may be a wider issue that you're experiencing. Other routers from other brands experience this issue with the consoles, its not isolated to the XR500. Its not a fix its a workaround while the developers try to reproduce and fix it. I would recommend calling Netgear support so they can diagnose further as it sounds like a different issue

- The firmware with the fix should be the latest firmware installed. What version are you on?
- I have the recent firmware installed on the router which is 2.3.2.32
i had the same issue as well i installed the new firmware update factory reset the router afterwards. set up my xbox in the geo field and also in the qos turned on instant on for my xbox one x, played that whole night which was friday. woke up saturday morning and turned the console on to find no internet connection. looked at the router saw the light was amber like always pressed the power off botton at the back of the router then pushed it again to turn it back on. left my console on the entire time and once the router was up and running again bam xbox had internet connection so this firmware beta update did not fix the issue and i did do a factory reset after the router completed the new firmware beta update. one thing that it did fix was the problem when if the lan ports are inop and you go to reset the router after it boots up you have to reset the modem. after i reset the router the internet light came right on where normally i have to reset the modem after the router is booted up. ps this router is awesome when it works. played black ops 4 all night set my geo field up to connected to a very close server where i was getting a ping as low as 19ms. and i was kicking ass already have a 3.25 kd. i really like this router just hate these small issues. wifi calling isnt the best and the lan ports dropping and not being able to use instant on. which that also sucks cause it nice when instant on is on because it also updates your console and games while the console is off..
Has this router had this issue with the lan ports going down since it has been released?

well , no luck with the Alpha Xbox update, LAN is still dropping. Back to wifi again...
- Thats disappointing. Teams had a meeting today about the issue so will hopefully be a resolution.
- Did netduma set up the qos on this router or was it netgear? I know geo filtering is from netduma. But qos is on older netgear routers and it sucks. Just last night I was only getting half my speed. So I turned off qos and rebooted the router and now I’m getting what I paid for.
- Even sent a pic showing the 1 report in my name.
Can we have any ETA on a possible firmware update on this?
By the way, I think the whole issue with this router is from DHCP. I cannot find any DHCP settings on the router to increase lease time (unless I'm blind and I'm missing it) so what I did last night was set a reservation for my PC before going to sleep. Woke up this morning and my PC had its connection still intact! So I'm happy about that, but still, for a consumer router, most people would return this thing before trying to fix it themselves or waiting for the OS company to fix their issue with it.
So I posted in the other thread but looks like I've narrowed it down to LAN ports for me as well. Both Xbox One and PC are connected to LAN ports and won't have internet accessbility after 24 hours..wireless works fine.
I agree with this comment above, how is this still a thing? No urgency?
