genie installer/updater not windows 10 compatable
I upgraded to Windows 10 and had netgear genie installed at the time. Genie worked just fine on Win 10 until I tried to upgrade to the newest version of genie. The installer deleted the old version and crashed installing the new. A message is displayed to reboot and retry the install. That didn't work and it tried compatability mode which also fails. I ran the Microsoft compatability troubleshooter which returned a 'program not compatible error'. Now I don't have genie. Any fixes or thoughts?
Hi grumpybs,
The latest version of the NETGEAR Genie should be compatible with Windows 10. I suggest making sure that the program has been completely uninstalled by checking Programs and Features under Control Panel. You can then try to reinstall the program by downloading the latest version using he link below.

Hello to all and to all, please excuse my English because this is a translation. I have myself a problem with Netgear Genie whose several versions I tried (of 2.4.12 to the last version 2.4.20). My problem is not an error of launch of the program which dashes(launches) him(her) very well, only concerns(marigolds), it is that when is I restart the PC or if I him(her,it) put out(switched off) and relights him(it), Netgear Genie does not dash(launch) any more in the starting up. Thank you if somebody knows the problem, I am under Windows 10 Professional 64 Bits.
I forgot to tell you that I have R7000 and that with Windows 8.1 it worked very well, but since I installed Windows 10 there partition and formating my SSD, Netgear Genie launches well but does not launch automatically in the restart or by putting out(switching off) the PC and relighting him(it) later or later.
Cordially

I have successfully installed v2.4.20 on Windows 10 but it won't start up in the system tray even though autostart is on. Any ideas?

I am having a problem with wired access as a result of accepting a firmware update recommendation from Netgear from an email sent 2/2/16. Also, as a result, Netgear Genie will not work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled from http://www.netgear.com/home/discover/apps/genie.aspx per suggestion - three times - and still comes the failure. 1) It is showing "unidentified network/no internet" for my wired connect and 2) still no Netgear genie functionality. How can I get both issues resolved?

Hi @RUSTYDUCK,
1. Were you able to successfully complete the firmware update?
2. What is the model number and firmware version of your router?
3. Have you tried resetting the router after the firmware update?
4. What is the operating system of the computer that is experiencing the issue with the NETGEAR Genie?
5. What version of NETGEAR Genie do you have installed on that computer?

After hours of searching through settings to find a possible answer, resetting 2 computers and finely finding the issue
was not with us but NetGear it's self. More time spent installing and installing the program and in general
a loss of sleep in an attenpt to fix the problem to fix this we finely found the answer.
We purchased a new router. Very nice one with options ours just didn't have available.
We found our answer, good luck finding yours.
I suggest Motorola. Used it for years without issues like this...they also had competent tech support.

I am having the exact same problem. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with Netgear support only to hear that Net genie isn't supported with my model, even though it says so on the box, and the directions instruct me to download Netgenie.
What a mess.
I tried the workaround and it failed. Surely this is a very basic problem that Netgear should have fixed- the conversations on this site go back to October/November. Can someone suggest anything outside of a brand new router?

Hi @aswerdlow1,
You may refer to the steps below instead.
1. Install the latest version of NETGEAR Genie. You may use the download link below.
http://netgear.com/home/discover/apps/genie.aspx
2. Once you have successfully installed the program, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\NETGEAR Genie\bin
3. Delete the drivers folder.
4. Download the drivers for the previous version of NETGEAR Genie using the download link below.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz-pjmQaYmk6Z0xTX3d3SVFLZ0k/view?usp=sharing
5. Unzip the file to your preferred location (Desktop would be easy to locate). It will contain the drivers folder.
6. Copy the drivers folder that you have just unzipped and navigate back to C:\Program Files (x86)\NETGEAR Genie\bin
7. Paste the drivers folder.
8. Relaunch the NETGEAR Genie programRegards,

- mrekimfApprenticewell I went and bought new router, nighthawk dst.
I cannot connect to it either by ethernet other wifi.
little caution symbol over my Internet connection icon in bottom of my windows 10 tray. I click troubleshoot and it comes up "some network protocols are missing". I do the fix problem, it says Fixed. so I reboot computer, and problem comes right back.
I have tried just about every so called solution I can find on google, but nothing works.
I may have to see what geek squad will charge to fix?
any suggestions, have you had this problem before?- DexterJBNETGEAR Moderator
Hi @mrekimf,
Support for that specific unit will be provided by Geek Squad. I suggest you check with them and see if they can provide assistance with the initial setup procedure.

Hi.
I try to install Netgear Genie on a Windows 10 64bit machine but the installer won't run.
I downloaded it multiple times from Netgear's website on multiple computer but I have the same error every time.
"NSIS Error
Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy."
Please fix that.

Genie 1.2.0.10
Windows 10
I'm trying to uninstall Genie as it is constantly eating 60% of the CPU. Uninstall fails and reports the uninstaller is incompatible with the OS
