RS700 firmware update 1.0.9.6
Hi
After upgrading to 1.0.9.6, something has prevented some of my 2.5ghz devices from being able to connect to wpa2/3 setting when smart connect is enabled.
the only way to resolve was to disable smart connect and change security to wpa2 only, or downgrade firmware which I have now done, and everything is working perfectly again.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks

I had this same issue with a newer Orbi system

Is there any ETA on a fix?

Since updating to 1.0.9.6, all devices have been ok on all bands apart from one device that has not been playing nicely with the new firmware, and that's my Eufy Home Base 3. Never had a problem with the previous firmware in almost a year of use, but on 1.0.9.6 with 2.4ghz it never connects with certain channels, which is a bit odd and I noticed this issue immediately the moment I manually upgraded the firmware. I know channel 2 works great with my Eufy Home Base 3, but if the router auto changes, or I do it manually to say channel 10, it completely kicks this one device off my network and I can't get it working no matter what I do. Changing this channel manually or if the router decides to move back to a working channel like 2, it connects immediately.
On the previous 1.0.7.96 firmware, I have never seen this behaviour. Out of the 35 devices I have connected, this is the only one that does it annoyingly. If this happens again, I may just have to downgrade or force the 2.4ghz band to stick to one channel until a new update is out.

As I can't edit my post, I forgot to add I don't use smart connect, so all bands are completely separate and apart from 6hgz, the other two use WPA2/WPA3 Personal with modes set to the highest bandwidth.

Quick update, I've now downgraded the firmware back to 1.0.7.96 over the top of the latest one, and the one device that was playing up the eyfy home base 3 is now working no mater what channel 2.4ghz is on. Until whatever pretty serious bug has been added to the latest firmware, I’m going to have to stay on 1.0.7.96 for the moment.

Hi everyone, if some of your WiFi devices cannot connect to RS700 after the firmware is upgraded to v1.0.9.6, please let us know which WiFi devices they are (brand, model, and firmware / driver version if you know). We will see if we can find the same devices to test.
Also it is much appreciated if you are OK to run some trial firmare to see if that fixes the WiFi connection issues for you. Thank uou.

Devices that cannot connect to 6ghz SSID:
iPhone 16 Pro Max - iOS 18.6
iPad Pro M2 12.9"- iOS 18.6
Lenovo ThinkPad T14s - Windows 11 22H4 Build 26100.4770
Steam Deck OLED 512GB - Steam OS 3.7.13
These were the only devices that I tried before rolling back to V1.0.8.64_3. Once back on that version everything connected again automatically. The 2.5ghz and 5ghz SSID's were unaffected.

I have the same issue with my Honeywell 9000 Series (RTH9580 Wi-Fi) thermostat and La Crosse C83100 weather station. Both are older 2GHz band only devices that worked perfectly before the v1.0.9.6 update. I was able to get them running by linking them to my extender instead of directly to the RS700 router, but that seems to have caused those extenders to lose internet connection. When I change the 2GH band channel assignment (1,7 or 11) on the RS700, the internet connection is reestablished at the extender but usually disconnects after a few hours.

Please revert to prior working version of FW and wait for next FW update.

For me, the devices that I know had issues were:
Honeywell Thermostat RTH6500WF
Chamberlain MyQ Garage door Hub
B Hyve Wifi Sprinkler Timer 57946-50rb
And now that I think about it, all had static IP addresses assigned to them. There may have been more items that had issues, but I switched back to the previous firmware before testing everything.
BH_C, please disregard my last post about the incorrect firmware version showing up on the router. That was user error on my part and I am now running v1.0.7.96.

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know I’ve sent you a PM with a trial firmware—feel free to let me know if you’ve had a chance to try it out. We’re continuing to look into the WiFi connectivity issue and really appreciate everyone’s input. If anyone else is seeing similar behavior and would be open to testing a debug firmware, feel free to PM me directly.
Thanks again for all the support!
Hi Richard,
I responded to your DM a while ago.

Thank you all for reporting the issue and the workaround, and we are sorry for the troubles. We will look into it right away.
Once you disable all the radios, all yur WiFi devices will get disconnected, and you need a device wired to the router to enable all the radios again.

I too am having problems after the firmware update. All devices with preconfigured static IP addresses randomly change to a different IP address. All device labeling and MAC addresses assigned to the static IP addresses randomly change as well without any user intervention.
I have rebooted, factory reset and uploading backups to no avail.

I can also confirm downgrading has completely fixed the issue, I'm also not an expert by any means but it does seem to be linked to the new firmware.
Thank you for the info. Just to give you an update, I installed the previous version of the firmware (1.0.7.96) on my RS 700 and everything is connecting now. I'm not an IT professional but the problems do appear to be related to the most recent firmware update (1.0.9.6).
I just noticed something I'm unclear on: after I downgraded the firmware, I checked the current version and the router displays the current version as 1.0.7.82 both on a web browser and on the nighthawk app.
However, I downloaded and installed the firmware from the zipfile for 1.0.7.96. I went back and rechecked my downloads folder and the file is named RS700-V1.0.7.96_2.0.96.chk. Any idea why it shows up as a much older version of the firmware, 1.0.7.82?

Tried the turning off wireless radios and also doing a factory reset . . . neither worked for ALL me devises (most did work though). The one major one that would not work was MYQ garage door hub. Ended up going back to the previous firmware 1.0.7.96 and now everything is working again. Guess I will just wait for the next update and try that one.
Similar problem here. I have a Honeywell thermostat that will not reconnect to the router since the firmware update. I've tried repeatedly to enter the password for the primary network and the guest network and it will not allow the thermostat back in. Hitting the WPS button while submitting the password did not help either. I also had to reconnect a ring camera after the firmware update. This has been a very frustrating update.

Have you tried my suggestion? It really did fix it right up for me. Both my Direct TV receiver and my Honeywell thermostat had the problem.

I am having the same problem with my Honeywell Thermostat, Dyson Air Purifier, and an old Sony DVD player. What is your suggestion?

What channels are you using on the router? Try 1 and 40.
Did you factory reset and setup from scratch after v.6 FW was loaded to see if this helps any?
