Update OS and Raidar ???
I have a ReadyNAS Duo from MAY 2011 - the Raidar About says version 4.1.3 and when I run it the INFO for my ReadyNAS Duo is 4.1.7.
Can I update Raidar and the OS ... without having to re-new some hardware ?

- RXLuminaryYou may download the latest version of RAIDar which is RAIDar 6.0 and the latest firmware version 4.1.14 for your Duo v1 from this link: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... -downloads

Yes you can. updating the OS does not mean you also need to update the hardware, updating the FW is to improve performace of your device and for bug fixes as well. Raidar is used to monitor the NAS on your network. - ksor1Aspirant

You know I have this "un-delete-problem" we talked about in another thread - I have NOT saved anything at all on the ReadyNAS Duo since I unfortunately delete these video files - right now I'm backing up the drive.
Will updating OS affect my chances for recovering these files ? - vandermerweMasterIf you are in the process of attempting data recovery then why would you want to upgrade the firmware?
That said, it shouldn't affect the data volume, but why risk it?
Have you contacted Netgear about your data recovery? - ksor1Aspirant

What was supposed to be the "User name" and "Password" in fact wasn't ;-(( !
That's why in the first place - second I think it's "best practice" to be updated.
An even better "best practice" was to remember the right credentials ;-))
I have no service contract or support any longer ! - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf you press for it there is data recovery available for purchase provided you are the original purchaser of the unit. Note data recovery is purchased with the understanding that attempts to get your data back may be unsuccessful.
It's best practice to backup so if you go and delete something you should still have the data. - ksor1Aspirant

I normally HAVE backup of my data but in this case I fooled around and deleted some video files while copying some new files to the drive - so the deleted ones has not yet been backed up.
How would the practice be for a "recovery case" - can it be done remotely ? - wliTutorDuo v2 has recycle bin folder for smb/cifa shares, did you check if Duo v1 has it?

Unfortunately it was not activated :( !
But I thorght - like in Windows - you could recover it from the raw data distruted on the disc.
A program could do that ... just like in Windows, - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThere are potentially some tools that would work, but you would need to enable ssh and use the cli interface. If you don't know the basics of ssh, then this might not be the best time to try to learn - you could easily do more damage.
Or, pay netgear to attempt and recover the data. http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... of-service
