Mar 05, 2012Wifi with Readynas Duo
i'm looking for a way to connect my ReadyNas Duo through Wifi instead of ethernet cable...
My problem is that i have three ReadyNas and only 2 free slots in my router... So i really need to use wifi with one of them
I came across this item:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6833122373
I'm wondering if it would work with the Readynas. I picked this one because it is made by Netgear so there shouldnt be compatibility issues... Also, it is powered by USB so i wouldn't need an external power adapter
Thanks for help

- Retired_Memberdamn i'm stupid, i meant i was about to buy the netgear router not the belkin one, sorry, i don't know why i wrote belkin, need some sleep i think.
i want to buy this one:

earlier you said "draft n" wifi might be a problem, thats why i was asking the question since the 8-port netgear router is also "draft n"
for example this article is saying we shouldnt buy "draft n", but it's old...

I don't know why the directcanada site says it is "draft n" - that has to be incorrect, no router introduced in Q4 2011 would be draft n. 802.11n was completed in October 2009.anarchoi wrote: damn i'm stupid, i meant i was about to buy the netgear router not the belkin one, sorry, i don't know why i wrote belkin, need some sleep i think.

Just bought the router from DirectCanada... Guess all my problems are solved now. Thanks again :) - Retired_Memberi suppose those yellow ethernet cables that came with my ReadyNas aren't cat5 or cat6 ?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe cable grade is printed on them - I believe it is likely Cat 5. These will usually work (since they are very short), though if you have a cat 5e or cat 6 patch cable you should probably use that.
I'm not sure why Netgear ships Cat 5 with a gigabit product. - Retired_Memberjust checked, the cables are cat5e so i guess i should be fine
Received my CyberPower UPS today... Looks great but only one thing is annoying me : can i disable the blue LED light in the power button ? My UPS is right next to my computer monitor and the bright LED light is really annoying ! - Retired_MemberEnded up just putting a tape on the power button, seems like there is no way to turn off the blue LED light according to google.
Oh, and my UPS doesnt seems to be detected in Raidair... the UPS button isn't green :/
Now what do i need to do to cinfigure my NAS to automatically clean-shutdown when power shortage is detected on the UPS ? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDid you connect the USB cable between the UPS and the NAS? Also does Frontview tell you that the NAS is monitoring the UPS?
- Retired_MemberOh i thought it was monitoring it through ethernet...
That USB slot on the CyberPower is already used to link my computer to the UPS. How can i also link my 2 NAS ? Will it work if i use a USB hub ?
I suppose i have to plug the usb cable on the back of the NAS and not the front ? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired

Connect the USB to one device and use NUT to share it over your network (obviously both devices' power cables will need to be connected to the UPS and the power cable for the router/switch as well for this too work). See Using the ReadyNAS to create a Network UPS for PCs
