Device view Java plugin not working

Currently I have installed two netgear managed switches: M5300-52G3 and GSM7248V2. I can't see the switch diagram in the Device view page. It reads "You need the Java Plugin. Get it from here" but "here" takes me to oracle java downloads and it doesn't point to the update I need. I have installed Java 8 Update 65 but the problem remains. I have tried with several browsers and all of them behave the same way.

Thanks.

  • Hello anha,

You can try using a different computer that has not updated Java as a work around. We are still waiting for a fix and might take months.

    Or try the following:
    -Uninstall java 8
    -Manually install java 7

    Hi cigb,

    Welcome to the community! :)

Let us isolate the problem.  Kindly answer the questions below:

    a. Have you tried using other PCs (with Windows 7/8/8.1/10 or MAC OS) to isolate the problem?

    b. What is the current firmware version of the M5300-52G3 and GSM7248v2 switches?

    c. Have you tried to perform a factory reset via a console connection then check if same problem occur?

I look forward to your response.

    Regards,

There are other PCs that can view the diagrams in Device View pages. Those PCs run different versions of Windows. Mine is 2012. I will do a crosscheck to look for pluggins. The devices are updated to the last version of firmware possible. I've never be able to view the diagrams.

      Regards.

You need to fix the java security setting now days to allow local trust to specific applets...  Simple fix would be go to control panel.. switch to category view if you see the new easy to use version.. .find Java

Open it and edit the following security section.

Make sure Java is eanbled in browser... if not.

Add an exception for switch address.

Now go to back and enjoy.  Also, make sure under advanced, your browser is enabled for Java incase you are using something else.. no worries for chrome though.

  • I have the same issue with all of our Netgear switches.  Unable to use Device View because of Java error.  Tied all the suggestions posted in this thread.

  • Same problem here. Running Java 8, update 66. Error appears in Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox on Windows 8.1 on several pc systems. Switch (4100-26G, firmware version 10.0.2.13) has had several factory resets without any result. The error:

    Device View

    !-- --------------- -->

You need the Java Plugin. Get it from here.

Unfortunately the link is not pointing tot a java version capable of running the app.

Install Java 7.... it's realy absurd for the safety of our PC !!!

        Netgear, Fix it quickly !!

  • This is a problem with the highest line of products you sell, and yet you still have not fixed the problem.  How long do you expect to keep peoples business?  Other companies sell switches where all of the features work, but you don't. New products keep coming out with old problems. Why on EARTH is this not fixed yet?

Agree, this is dissapointing. Not even a date. I have this problem with several switches. Additonally, I can not get the GS516TP www interface to work at all with IE 11, except enter password. Have to use Edge, then still no device interface.

      Sigh...
