Keep Loosing Internet Connection with my Orbi
I recently bought an orbi from amazon and i love it because it reaches throughout my whole house unlike my old router. However, i have noticed that i have dropped internet connections at times. For example the first time i noticed it, i went on a trip for 2 weeks so i haven't really been home to notice a drop in connection, was this morning and it had a pulsing magenta, i had to restart and it came back up. Afterwards now i saw that it had a pulsing white and it fixed itself within a few minutes. I paid a lot of this system and i want to know what's wrong or if anyone else has had this issue? I'd really appreciate any help.

Hi,
I too face a similar issue and need to reboot the router once in two days. Further, the WiFi too stops and new connections cannot be made. Once the R and S are rebooted, everything works fine. Have the latest firmware version. Any pointers please? Cannot have such an unreliable system for the price paid.

Have you checked to see if the modem loses internet connection during that time the orbi stopped working?

- jmhleyInitiateI'm having the same problem. My orbi loses internet every 12-15 hours. I just bought it on Saturday and for the price I paid it's completely unacceptable. I've never had this issue prior to purchasing the orbi. I have the RBK50

Hi there,
I know there are many threads for this issue already but I can't get my head around it. My orbi satellite keeps dropping connection as well. I'm unable to open the disk image of updates. I'm at my wits end. I don't want to get a new product but a permanent solution.

What firmware version are you running?

I have the same issues as others. Things were fine but now I lose my connection once a day after 12 hours or so. This "breaks" my cameras which cannot resetablish themselves without going through their setups again. Is there a beta firmware that fixes this? I am willing to try anything to get this thing stable again. REally frustrated with the cost of the system and the inability to callit reliable.
Please help.

Same issue, have updated to the latest firmware, problem is getting worse, now drops internet connection 6-7 times per day.
If there is a fix, please get it out fast, this is really unacceptable.

I am running firmware V2.0.0.74 on mine and have none of these issues.
What firmware are you running?
Do you have MU-MIMO and beamforming enabled?
- DBettsGuide
I have updated the system to V2.0.0.74 no improvement. I have MU-MIMO and beamforming enabled but it is not random connected wireless devices dropping the internet connection, it is the base router and all devices lose connectivity simultaneously whether wired or otherwise. Have spoken to support, its like they don't listen, having me change channels on the wireless settings, umm sure, lets do that. End of tech support today was, must be my ISP, so had the ISP out, all tests clean. Subsequently connected my old Linksys router and voila, stable connection. Netgear, time to acknowledge you have a problem...

As a final attempt, try and do a factory reset now that you have the latest firmware. Also, what's the IP range of your ISP router and what's the IP range of the Orbi?
- Jandy1Initiate
The latest firmware versions have made the Orbi RBK50 constantly disconnect (currently V2.1.1.16). Router reboot is required several times a day. Satellites randomly disconnect. ISP is 100% connected. Factory reset, etc. to no avail. The Orbi worked well for the first month or two but then degraded to nothing but frustration. Regrettably, I recommended this $450 device too quickly to friends and family. Most have already returned theirs.

My kids ask me daily to fix the WiFi at all hours of the night. I usually have to reboot the router (and not the modem). Since the modem seems fine and the stability of Orbi has only recently come into question… must assume it is this recent firmware. Do you have a fix or a way to revert to a more stable version. This is PAINFUL!- Streak2Master
What are your current settings for the following? Mine were unticked by default, try enabling beamforming and fast roaming if they are not already checked and disable them if they already are checked.
I also had a little instability after the firmware update but a factory reset and resync cleared things up.

I purchased the Orbi in November of 2016 - it has worked flawlessly until the past 2 weeks where I lost the internet via wifi 4 times, including this evening. I rebooted each time and regained wireless Internet but I am very concerned that the Orbi router is failing after less than 1.5 years. I am up to date on the firmware and the internet works fine from my cable modem - including the modem's wifi, though much, much slower than the Orbi when it is working. Any suggestions?
- I’m not sure if this will help, but I recently had a nightmarish time with my Orbi. I upgraded my modem and after 5 minutes of running WiFi the Orbi would slow from 170Mbps to 3Mbps. I tried everything except for a factory reset (the pinhole reset button on the router). That improved the situation, but it wasn’t until I later unplugged the satellites and plugged them back in that the network stabilized. So, factory reset and power cycle satellites. Good luck!

Thanks for the Factory reset suggestion - I did that once when rebooting and unplugging didn't help. That was about 45 days ago. Now I lost the internet via wifi 3 times in a week.
- The first wave to be released are only for the RBR50 and RBS50, which is used in the RBK50 and RBK53 (Costco) kits.New beta FW avaialble. Get it while its hot of the press:

Firmware V2.1.4.10 is a disaster. Countless posts on various underdeveloped and poorly tested firmware versions. Most of us have countless hours of factory resets, and many of us have had the misfortune of sitting on the phone with helpdesk folks who have been hung out to dry trying to support a system that does not work.
I have had one period of approximately 2 months duration from February to mid April 2018 where the orbi system was relatively reliable. I don't know which firmware was making this happen, and as an end user, I shouldn't need to. In any event, need to know what firmware to roll back to, and how to disable auto update.
Did you try a factory reset and set up from scratch with this last version?
What problems are you seeing that is a disaster?
I would try v2.1.3.4. Do a factory reset and set up from scratch.
Try this to disable auto update:

I was having the odd wifi disconnect issue until V2.1.4.10. SInce then no problems at all.
I did a full reset after loading the new firmware and re-paired the satellites.
