The 10Gbit switch XS716T has faulty either hardware or firmware which makes the fan go to a very high speed very often and then back to normal. I reported this issue to the support team who initially send me a replacement unit but when the error occurred on the 2nd unit they changed their minds and called it "by design". Let's first agree on how a smart fan works. A smart fan adjusts the speed of the fan to let it go fast if the temp increases and slower when the temp decreases. This is obviously the reason you want a smart fan and not a static very loud fan. What happens on the XS716T is that the fan (at least on my unit) runs normal for 1 minute and the very fast for another minute. This pattern repeats it self over and over. In my mind this not a "business idea" but a bug in probably the firmware.
I strongly recommend people NOT getting the XS716T if they plan to use it in a noise sensitive area.
I really hope this issue is fixed so I can get my quite room back.

I want it to be able to set up a list of allowed devices (by MAC address) for wired access, but still allow any device to connect through the guest portal. Ideally, one could have separate allowable MAC lists (or allow all) for each wireless SSID in addition to the wired access. Maybe a table with MAC address and then a checkbox for Wired, Wireless1, Wireless2, and Guest to show where it is allowed to connect.

Hi all,
(NO INSIGHT harware selectable... therefor this WAC730)
INSIGHT has now the possibility tp maken backups of the hardware in INSIGHT
However, you have to make them mannualy.
I suggest to create a "scheduled backup" i.g daily or weekly or monthly so you have always a "latest backup" available.
With 10 or more sight/locations in INSIGHT is is impossible to maken backups mannualy.

Hi, As a common use-case tor these PoE switches is CCTV with connections outdoors, may I suggest to add a feature in the firmware that prevents these outdoor ports to be used with devices other than the intended camera? Would port-security, ie. binding to a given MAC address, be a right step in that direction? Or did I overlook a feature that already does this now? I'm by far not an expert 😉 Kind regards, C.

It would be a wonderful feature if the switch would show you the MAC address table it's using. This feature is the only thing missing from making this a great switch.
Thanks!

Currently running V2.2.1.210 on an Orbi Pro SRR60 (an additional thing would be to actually order the Model field in this form, i couldnt find Orbi Pro in it).
The traffic meter today shows only the total traffic flowing through the router. Any router that is labeled "pro" and is sold for business purposes should include a report that shows traffic by IP and traffic by service type.

Selecting the Device View in the Web UI and then selecting the back view no longer displays power supply status information. This previously worked in v12.0.2.20, prior to us upgrading to the latest available which is compatible with 96X switches (12.0.7.9).

(I actually have the 48 port model but that wasn't in the drop down list.)
I ran into a problem when trying to get a legitimate (as opposed to self-signed) CA certificate. The CSR that this switch generates is 1024 bit and my CA issuer requires 2048 bits minimum. I would like to request a larger range available for CSR generation so that I can get a good CA certificate for the switch. This could be easily done with a drop down giving the user a choice between 1024, 2048, 4096 etc bits to use in the private key and CSR thusly generated.
I have witnessed other infrastructure become slowly more difficult to access because modern browsers are demanding more stringent standards for the certificates they recognize; I have some PDU's that I literally have to run 2006-era Firefox browsers to get into these days. I don't want to have to deal with this in the future with the switches. If these switches are to be primarily accessed via a web browser without some kind of ssh option, direct console access, or other secure alternative, this seems like an important issue. Browsers are increasingly rejecting self-signed certificates as well.
Here's a link to my original question about this issue:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Smart-Plus-Click-Switches/generating-certificates-with-GREATER-than-1024-bits/m-p/1659466/highlight/true#M10799
Thank you for your consideration to this idea/request.

From FRANCE.
I own an ORBI SR60 system (1 SRK60 and 2 SRS60) used in AP mode with fixed IP for SRK60. I disabled DHCP server in the SRK60.
I use an ethernet backhaul connexion for all ORBI satellite and router using a separate LAN as it is mandatory (by the way, you can use VLAN or Port Isolation to do this in all available switches, no need to buy a separate switch).
I like this sytem very much as it is performant and easy to deploy.
As other users, I loose Internet connexion after a power failure if the SRK60 restart before the modem (in my case one from Internet provider). Remember I am in AP mode. Using power Inverter will not fix the problem in case of Internet connexion drop or long power failure.
All stations can communicate on the LAN but none can access the WAN. From the WAN, the only station available is the Internet Modem.
As other users, the only way to get the Internet (IN & OUT) connexion working again is to unplugged the SRK60 power. No need to check switches, LAN station, LAN network, the problem is the SRK60.
I have made a special lab test with only a modem, a SRK60, a SRS60 and a PC and I am able to reproduce the problem as needed.
NETGear France support confirm my problem and ask me to post it here as a new Idea subject. In the documentation, page 108, there is a power start order suggested but it is not a solution as I have 6 switches, 4 different LAN and more than 50 clients in the LAN. In my case, this lan is 800 kms far from my other office.....
At this time, my only solution was to connect the SRK60 power supply to an Aviosys IP Power configured as it will not switch it on again after a power failure. In case of power failure, I have to restart it manually from the WAN using Aviosys IP power possibility.
So my goal is to get a new firmware to fix this problem. It is mandatory as the system is not usable as it.
A case problem is already open on french Netgear support, no need to ask me to open a new one.

Running firmware 4.3.5-3 updated today 2/May/2018 but still no connection with ZEN ISP.
Zen say this is a known issue for both ZEN and a number of other UK ISPs. IPv6 roll-out is gathering speed, you need ISP compatibility. I understand most UK ISPs are members of the broadband forum and support only TR-187 dual-stack operation. Surely you can make this an option.

Hi Please keep this device alive as your low level/entry level device for us with small and medium installations. The device is working perfect but you have now put it EOL, we, your users, have been told. Why? It’s still on your list of devices to choose from...! No alternative devise (price) is available! I just got my last brand new device some months back from a main street supplier. And now it’s EOL!?! I don’t get it!

Please update the version of tcpdump that's included in the WAC720 and WAC510 access point (and other WiFi routers/access points). The version currently installed relies on a buggy libpcap that incorrectly processes the Prism radio header. As a result, running a packet capture on the radio interface results on undecodable frames. Please note that the problem is in the pcap library, not tcpdump (the pcap library is static linked into tcpdump). This is the version of tcpdump currently installed:
# tcpdump -V tcpdump version 3.9.8 libpcap version 1.1.1
This is what happens when the current version of tcpdump is run on a radio interface (notice the decodes are useless):
# tcpdump -i mon0 -n
tcpdump: WARNING: mon0: no IPv4 address assigned tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on mon0, link-type PRISM_HEADER (802.11 plus Prism header), capture size 96 bytes 16:25:39.368772 [|802.11] 16:25:39.395357 [|802.11] 16:25:39.396201 [|802.11] 16:25:39.408759 [|802.11] 16:25:39.415976 [|802.11] 16:25:39.416788 [|802.11] 16:25:39.448778 [|802.11]
This is an updated version of tcpdump:
# /tmp/tcpdump -V tcpdump version 4.7.4 libpcap version 1.7.3
This is what happens if I use an updated version of tcpdump (notice the decodes are sensible):
# /tmp/tcpdump -i mon0 -n tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on mon0, link-type PRISM_HEADER (802.11 plus Prism header), capture size 262144 bytes 16:26:44.309540 Probe Request (Carioca_5G) [6.0 9.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:44.319537 Probe Request (Carioca_5G) [6.0 9.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.047216 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.048028 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69 16:26:49.087172 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.088047 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69 16:26:49.127191 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.127972 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69

Enable support for mirroring multiple VLAN's to a single port. Support for this feature would allow monitoring of select traffic and exclusion for others. This would also support monitoring of virtual infrastructure by allowing the guest VLAN to be monitored and allowing the host/management VLAN to be excluded. Port based mirroring does not support that in the same way.
