I will like to have more control on the LAN settings can you tell me where i can configure the WINS and Domain for the LAN, they are hidden by the interface, can I connect to the router by SSH or other means. My router is SRR60 firmware 2.5.0.108 Thanks. Paolo

Hi all, I'd like to suggest feature be added to the managed switches. Ideally all the managed switches if possibile. My suggestion is to allow the reload command to be able to specify the number of minutes or seconds until the reload executes. This would allow for changes to be made to remote switches that might cause an issue / loss of remote access to be able to be rolled back automatically to restore remote access should something happen. A great safety net when working with managed switches or any networking gear really. It could be added an option to the reload command that takes a parameters of minutes. eg: This would reload the switch in 20 minutes: reload in 20m this would reload the switch in 300 seconds (5 minutes): reload in 300 and reload by itself would still work just as it always has and reload the switch instanatly after confirmation: reload Each command could prompt the user for confirmation then sit in the background until its time to run. You could also offer some kind of console message periodically or when near to reloading to remind console users that the switch is going to reload (harder to do with web interface I know but I don't think thats a big deal) You would also need a way to cancel the reload either with another option on the reload command or with another command altogether. some idea examples are: reload stop
stop reload
no reload
cancel reload I was couious if this could be done using the scripting capabilities of the M4300 and similar managed switches but I havn't tried that. I also have a feeling when the script is running it prevents other changes being made (but I don't know this for a fact). Not sure exactly where I should put this feature request but thought I would start here and see how I go.

I'm actually reiterating another post from earlier this year re: the urgent need for the Netgear engineering team to fix a significant security flaw in the OrbiPro Router's Wireless 2 network. As noted so well in this post: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-Pro-WiFi-for-Small-Business/Orbi-Pro-Wireless-2-quot-Employee-Network-quot-Isolation/m-p/1723835 ... please provide appropriate granular security separation on Wireless 2 that allows admins to select the ability to allow Wireless 2 employees/devices to see each other BUT separates out the current flaw which also allows them to "access my local network". This is for the OrbiPro SRR60 device aka SRK60-100NAS.

Under System -> Management -> Port Status you are able to add a port description. It would be very useful to see this descrioption displayed throughout the interface while looking at the ports such as while defining VLAN's, System -> Monitoring -> Port Statisitcs, and others.

We have an email inbox for the status of all system alerts, all software we use on other sites correctly identifies the system alerting and the device and status in the subject so we can react to the information as soon as it comes up, with the exception of the Insight alerts. Would it possible for some kind developer in the Insights system to add the device name label to the front of each alerting email's subject line so we can have a full set of systems working like this without having to go through each individual email body text to see what it relates to, please ?

Include PoE Fix of GS105PE 1.5.0.1 into the main stream releases. After my own support case which resulted like many threads in the netgear community already mentioned. The beta firmeware 1.5.0.1 fixes a PoE negotiation problem that never got into the main stream releases (now 1.6.0.4). https://community.netgear.com/t5/Connect-with-the-SMB-GM/GS105PE-PoE-Interoperability-Issues/m-p/1606124#M130 suggests to open a support case... reading all the community posts where some did that... it doesn't seem to help to fix this in an official release. I was asked from the support agent to post it here to get this fix hopefully into the official releases. Summary of the case: GS105PE does not negotiate with PoE+ (at) with a switch that provides PoE+. It always falls back to "af". There is a painfull workaround: Connect everything, switch negotiate at "af". Then just press the hard reset button for more than 10 seconds and the immediatly resets and negotiate at PoE+ (at). There exists a magic beta firmware version 1.5.0.1 which can be requested by opening a support case. Which also immediatly negotiate at PoE+ (at) directly after flashing the firmware version.

I wish to suggest that the OS for ReadyNAS be improved on two areas to ; 1. Permit Weekly, Biweekly and Monthly RSYNC backup jobs to be scheduled. At present only possible up to 24 hours Max, 2. Allow the Power Options to allow start up the NAS device on a minute by minute basis, instead of just by each hour. The old FrontView allowed minute settings for auto startup and shutdown. Thanks, Warren Taylor Sevenoaks, UK

The FileSearch add on is to limited when searching file contents. Ideally I'd like to be able to add extensions. But right now I need the search system to index PDF contents (when they are unencrypted) You should take a page from Microsofts Search control where you select the extension and whether to index contents or not. Also it would be great if there was a % complete display for the indexing. Also... Your lables are ducking useless because you don't include a readynas option.

I have an issue with adding an IPv4 ACL and IPv6 ACL to the same VLAN ID on a GS752TXP (S3300). A single ACL (IPv4 or IPv6) is no problem but combining an IPv4 and IPv6 ACL on the same VLAN returns an error: "Error! Failed to assign ACL.". Could you please investigate if it's possible to make this work? Now I can only filter IPv4 OR IPv6 traffic on a VLAN, in our case that's not enough.

The 10Gbit switch XS716T has faulty either hardware or firmware which makes the fan go to a very high speed very often and then back to normal. I reported this issue to the support team who initially send me a replacement unit but when the error occurred on the 2nd unit they changed their minds and called it "by design". Let's first agree on how a smart fan works. A smart fan adjusts the speed of the fan to let it go fast if the temp increases and slower when the temp decreases. This is obviously the reason you want a smart fan and not a static very loud fan. What happens on the XS716T is that the fan (at least on my unit) runs normal for 1 minute and the very fast for another minute. This pattern repeats it self over and over. In my mind this not a "business idea" but a bug in probably the firmware.
I strongly recommend people NOT getting the XS716T if they plan to use it in a noise sensitive area.
I really hope this issue is fixed so I can get my quite room back.

I want it to be able to set up a list of allowed devices (by MAC address) for wired access, but still allow any device to connect through the guest portal. Ideally, one could have separate allowable MAC lists (or allow all) for each wireless SSID in addition to the wired access. Maybe a table with MAC address and then a checkbox for Wired, Wireless1, Wireless2, and Guest to show where it is allowed to connect.

Hi all,
(NO INSIGHT harware selectable... therefor this WAC730)
INSIGHT has now the possibility tp maken backups of the hardware in INSIGHT
However, you have to make them mannualy.
I suggest to create a "scheduled backup" i.g daily or weekly or monthly so you have always a "latest backup" available.
With 10 or more sight/locations in INSIGHT is is impossible to maken backups mannualy.

Hi, As a common use-case tor these PoE switches is CCTV with connections outdoors, may I suggest to add a feature in the firmware that prevents these outdoor ports to be used with devices other than the intended camera? Would port-security, ie. binding to a given MAC address, be a right step in that direction? Or did I overlook a feature that already does this now? I'm by far not an expert 😉 Kind regards, C.

It would be a wonderful feature if the switch would show you the MAC address table it's using. This feature is the only thing missing from making this a great switch.
Thanks!

Currently running V2.2.1.210 on an Orbi Pro SRR60 (an additional thing would be to actually order the Model field in this form, i couldnt find Orbi Pro in it).
The traffic meter today shows only the total traffic flowing through the router. Any router that is labeled "pro" and is sold for business purposes should include a report that shows traffic by IP and traffic by service type.

Selecting the Device View in the Web UI and then selecting the back view no longer displays power supply status information. This previously worked in v12.0.2.20, prior to us upgrading to the latest available which is compatible with 96X switches (12.0.7.9).

(I actually have the 48 port model but that wasn't in the drop down list.)
I ran into a problem when trying to get a legitimate (as opposed to self-signed) CA certificate. The CSR that this switch generates is 1024 bit and my CA issuer requires 2048 bits minimum. I would like to request a larger range available for CSR generation so that I can get a good CA certificate for the switch. This could be easily done with a drop down giving the user a choice between 1024, 2048, 4096 etc bits to use in the private key and CSR thusly generated.
I have witnessed other infrastructure become slowly more difficult to access because modern browsers are demanding more stringent standards for the certificates they recognize; I have some PDU's that I literally have to run 2006-era Firefox browsers to get into these days. I don't want to have to deal with this in the future with the switches. If these switches are to be primarily accessed via a web browser without some kind of ssh option, direct console access, or other secure alternative, this seems like an important issue. Browsers are increasingly rejecting self-signed certificates as well.
Here's a link to my original question about this issue:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Smart-Plus-Click-Switches/generating-certificates-with-GREATER-than-1024-bits/m-p/1659466/highlight/true#M10799
Thank you for your consideration to this idea/request.
