cant change IP address range values in LAN DHCP setting
I am using MR60 router. I cant change DHCP range in LAN setting from admin console. As soon as I change ending IP address (last four digits) from 10.0.0.254 to 10.0.0.250 and click Apply, the router restarts and changes the value back to 10.0.0.254.

I downloaded latest firmware release v1.1.8.142 and manually updated it.. Still not able to change the range, but I am able to add static IP within the DHCP range. I will use 10.0.0.252 as static IP for Pi-hole for now. Hopefully, won't see any conflict.

Still suggest trying a factory reset.
Or reserve the IP address in the router.

Thanks to everyone for checking. Yes, my Orbi RBR50 and RBR750 both show the first three octets of the DHCP range "greyed out" and cannot be changed.
They paste into a Forum message like this:
Since FURRYe38 was able to change the DHCP range on his MR60 with firmware 1.1.7.134, and the OP's MR60 is also running 1.1.7.134, this appears to a case for the dreaded Factory Reset.
(I saw someone asked if that was done, but am not finding the response.)

Yeah, I asked that yesterday. I think it's the obvious next step.

The first 3 octets can't be changed as only the 4th one can be. Can only effect the 1st 3 octets by changing the router IP address.

So I took out my MR60 and checked this with mine.
MR was priviously set for 192.168.63.1 with a range of .100 to .150.
Connected one ethernet PC to MR and didn't connect the MR to any modem or ISP service.
Using MS Edge, I was able to change to 10.0.0.1 for the MR and set DCHP range at 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.250 and hit apply. MR rebooted. I disable the ethernet adatper on the PC and renabled it to ensure it refreshed the IP address. IP address on PC changed to a 10.0.0.# address.
Logged in and 10.0.0.x configuration was set and persisted:
I then connected the MR behind another router using 192.168.1.1 subnet and MR is still currently online and working.
FW is one behind on my MR60.

Something about this seems "odd". My Netgear router definitely displays both starting and ending IPs in regular text:
It is always a good idea to verify that the router is running the current firmware release.
For the MR60 that is v1.1.8.142, released in October, 2025.

What seems odd to you???
My Orbi also has the first three fields in the DHCP range grayed out (my subnet mask is also 255.255.255.0).
The router IP address (which is what you seem to be showing) allows all four fields to be edited.

I agree.

The IP address range gets displayed the same as OP in my RS500 router too, that doesn't sound like an issue though.

Nothing is changed. I posted the screenshot without any change. 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.254. I wanted to change the IP range, so that I can have an IP outside of the DHCP range which I can use to reserve as static IP, but none of the changes gets retained. As soon as I click 'Apply' after making any changes, router restarts and settings get reset to original.

What happens if you set a static IP in the pihole?

What browser are you using on the MRs web page to make changes?
And you did a factory reset and setup from scratch with a ethernet connected PC and web browser and tried to make this changes with out the MR connected to anything accept for the one PC?
What FW version is on the MR and MS?

Do the DHCP pool starting and ending addresses actually appear on the screen with the first three octects very faint (very hard to read), or did you change the screenshot before posting it?
The discussion started about changing the DHCP pool values. Now it appears that attempting to set a reservation also fails?

What's the need to change to the ending LAN ip address from 254 to 250? You seem to be already in a double NAT scneario with your ISP gateway which isn't ideal.
- vish_atAspirant
Want to reserve static IP for PI-hole as per this screen. https://snipboard.io/qVEaYs.jpg
Again, as soon as I click Apply, the router reboots and reservation goes away and router goes back to default set up.
- coolwifiLuminary
So why are changing the ending IP range to 10.0.0.250 for reserving this IP? You could set the static IP in the pihole.

What was the purpose of erasing the LAN setup display to show only the last parts? (2 and 254) Since the erased part is supposed to be 10.0.0, there is nothing "sensitive" about this information.
- coolwifiLuminary
Looks like it has been changed and disabled to avoid double NAT with the ISP gateway.

The internet setup screen clearly shows the router is connected to a gateway, since the WAN is a 192.168.1.x address.
But double NAT is not as evil as many posters here suggest, and isn't related to the problem vish_at is asking about. The only ways to avoid double-NAT are to set up the ISP gateway in bridge mode, or set up the MR60 as an AP. Disabling the LAN DHCP server range settings won't do it.

That would be good to know. Often the goal is to allow some static IP addresses. But whatever the reason, it should work.
vish_at - have you tried changing the starting IP address from 2 to 6? Does that also fail to stick?
Have you tried doing a factory reset of the router?
- vish_atAspirant
Even Edge browser has same issue.
- vish_atAspirant
Did everything you have mentioned, still it comes back to original. Model number of ISP modem is BGW320-505 (Nokia manufactured ATT). I use chrome browser to make changes. You can see 'internet setup' screen of Netgear modem at https://snipboard.io/VoODgX.jpg and LAN setup screen at https://snipboard.io/LOuj0X.jpg
