Hi. I am having this same issue. I am on firmware V2.3.2.32. Is that the same one that is getting PM'ed to everyone? If not, any help would be appreciated. This has been a pain for a couple of months now.

The best step here is to contact NETGEAR's official support. By registering a case with them, they will be able to send you a firmware (if there is one) to fix and also look into a replacement if necessary. In other words - get in direct contact with them as this is not something the NETGEAR community will be able to help with.

Any news for this ? Did the reports through the console help to solve something ?
Just got this router on 11/24 and am experiencing the periodic disconnect for wired ports. I'm running firmware version .32 (latest as of this post.)
My cable modem is a Netgear CM1000. Everything was working fine with an Asus router until I "upgraded" to this one yesterday.
I saw in another thread that there might be a beta fix for this issue? I'd be willing to give it a try.
Posting a section of my log. It has the DHCP events that were mentioned in other posts in case that's related.

Not sure if that's what's causing your issue or not but I was experiencing the same problem. WiFi seem to work fine but I would lose LAN lines and have to restart the router.
Thanks - I suspect mine is related to the DHCP lease changing. My PC had 192.168.50.3 and then was re-assigned 192.168.50.11 this morning. I think the times correlate with the time of my last outage. I'll try to take careful note of the time next time this happens.
Does anyone know if reserving an address is a work-around for this?

- Seanabong2200ApprenticeGeo field is not working since I have applied this update that you pm me to my router. Nothing shows up anymore at all in the field.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerQuit the game to dashboard, delete device from the Geo-Filter then add it back and set up the Geo-Filter how you want. Flush the cloud then wait 2 minutes and boot the game up again, do you see things appearing on the map then?

I am having the issue of my LAN ports not working at all. Can I get a firmware download please??
- Seanabong2200ApprenticeWell this morning I went to turn my Xbox one on to find no connection. Restart the router and now it is working. So this most recent firmware update did not fix the issue.
- Netduma_JackNetDuma Partner
Seanabong2200 Have you disabled Instant On mode on your Xbox? This issue has not been resolved yet (Microsoft and NETGEAR are looking into it)
thenobleone62 - I'll PM you the firmware now.
- Seanabong2200ApprenticeNo its been on I won’t disable I just reset the router. I don’t like that my games don’t get updated while the console is off. I like to spend my time I can play Xbox playing the games without waiting on updates. Too bad this 300.00 router can’t work good enough so I don’t have to restart every other day. For the last 3 months. Since I’ve bought it. Netgear just sent me another new one last Friday. and they didn’t want me to reset my old one and I had to give him my router login so they can send the router to the engineers. But the one I got just last week is doing the same thing. Today was its first time. Dropping all the lan ports until I reset it. I even leave the Xbox one on. When it doesn’t have connection. And restart the router and after the router bolts up. Bam. I have internet again. And everything goes back to normal.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerIts not necessarily down to the router thats why both teams are looking at it but understand your frustration, hopefully will be a resolution soon.

I am having the same issues with the LAN ports failing after some time. A restart of the router always fixes for a about a day. I am currently have the latest firmware.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerHave you tried previous suggestions and tried the beta firmware?
- Seanabong2200Apprentice
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerYes it was released a few days ago, has quite a few new features and fixes. They will post a change log when they put it on the knowledge base but for now it's only available by checking on the router itself.
- Seanabong2200Apprentice
Okay. cool beans. Ill have to install it when i get home. I have my QOS turn off at the time cause it seems the router performs better for me with is off but i do still use the GEO-FILTER. after i install the new firmware ill turn QOS back on and give it another try. When QOS is on seems like it slows down my internet more than anything.
- Seanabong2200ApprenticeSo far my console has been working fine as well without it loosing connection. Since Saturday when I installed the new firmware. One thing I have noticed since installing this update is my speed are slower. I get 450 download and 25 upload from my isp. If I plug my console straight into the modem I get those speeds. But once I plug my router in. It goes all the way down to 150 and upload is 18. Drops a lot. Qos is on. Buffbloat is at 90 my console is the only one that is set up on it and I have it set to were my console gets more internet than the other devices. I also disconnected all other devices and only had my console and pc connected to the router and the speeds were still a lot slower. Around the 150 download and 18 upload on both devices.
- Netduma_JackNetDuma Partner
If you disable QoS do you then get full speeds (the option is in Anti-Bufferbloat's advanced options)? And are you doing this test wired?
- Seanabong2200ApprenticeYes doing all test wired. With qos off I get about 236 and still 18 upload. But straight from the modem I get 400 and 25 upload.
- Seanabong2200ApprenticeThis morning my wife turned on my console and said it had no connection so she restarted the router and she got internet again. This update sucks also and did not fix it.

Seanabong2200,
I know exactly how you feel, I had to find a solution out on my own, please try this in order:
Download this: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/XR500/XR500-V2.3.2.32.zip [2.3.2.32]
Install it onto your router (Settings > Administration > Firmware Update)
Once it's complete, perform a factory reset (Settings > Administration > Backup Settings > Erase)
Download this: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/XR500/XR500-V2.3.2.40.zip [2.3.2.40]
Install it on the your router (Settings > Administration > Firmware Update)
Reboot one last time (Settings > Administration > Reboot)Set up your router
These steps above fixed my issue with the router disconnecting EVERY 24 hours.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerSean did you read my previous message?
Hate, theres not much need to do a factory reset before an upgrade, you'd want to do it after but happy it resolved issues you were having.

Hi. I need help, my port 1 is not working. LED lamp is black, had 2 switch to port 2 to get internet. Have the latest firmware XR500 V2.3.2.40.
Have rebooted the router 5 times and it still doesent work.
Can you see status on ports in DumaOS?
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerHave you used different ethernet cables with port 1 to see if it's a faulty cable? If so take a look at port 1 and port 2 side by side, can you see any differences inside? If so it may be faulty. Just to check you haven't blocked the device thats connected to it have you? Yes in the table view of device manager you can see
- Mr_smileAspirant
Hi. Yes, tried different cables and devices. Found under Settings, Monitoring, Statistics, LAN 1 (Link down).
I only used DumaOs 2 times when i first got XR500 and to day when i updated firware after i couldent connect to internet.
I saw in the table view that port 1 is connected but it doesent work, LED is still black and dead. Connected my tv, stereo and playstation to try and i dont have internet on port 1.
