RBR850 - no access to interface
I have an RBR850 WiFi 6 with one satellite. I have a lot of smart home devices on the nework (over 80)
As of a few days ago, I cannot access the router interface via iPhone app nor can I access it via web interface (192.168.1.1 or www.orbilogin.com). The iphone app just circle and then say it cannot conncet. I cannot access via app through remote access either. On the web interface, it clocks out.
Interestingly, my network is working fine without any issues at all!
I know I can go ahead and uplug and replug the router and its satellites hoping for this work but this happened to me a month ago as well for now reason.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any ideas?
Thanks,

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What broswer are you using?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
I don't know the exact firmware number as I cannot access it currenlty. But, when I last checked 4 days ago, it said firmware was up to date.
I have tried Edge, Chrome, Orbi iPhone App.
I have not done a factory reset as it's kind of a last effort measure. As I said, my network with over 80 Wifi devices is up and running and no issues. Problem is lack of access to the interface.
I know I have to reboot all and have all wifi devices reconnect but was trying to see if this was reported before.
As an aside, the main router light has remained on solid white. I read somewhere on this forum this might indicate a set up that has not completed. I don't understand why and how as eveything has been well for over a month.
I recommend a reset and setup from scratch on the RBR and RBS. Press the reset button in for 15 seconds then release. Walk thru the setup wizard with a wired PC. I would not enable Armor at the end.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
- This is happening yo me as well in the last week. There must be something going on.
For users seeing accessibility problems with the Orbi app, please post in the Orbi app forum:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-App/bd-p/en-home-orbi-app
As I and others have seen connection issues with the app before.
Thank you.
- This is not only on the app. I am unable to access the admin interface from a browser on multiple devices unless I restart the router and satellite . I will then have access for a couple days and then it will dissapear again , with connection timing out.

Was also having an issue accessing the mobile interface, fortunately I was still able to access the admin interface via the web.
Unistalled and reinstalled the mobile app and can now can access the mobile interface, however, I have to do so via "anywhere access", it fails to connect locally. Not a huge deal since most all of the functionality exists in anywhere access, excluding the remote firmware upgrade capability (when necessary), but frustrating nonetheless. I do not have the time or interest of completing a factory reset and reinstallation of my entire system everytime there is a firmware upgrade for the app or the router and satellites, my expectation is it all should work as it did previously.
Current app version 2.6.7.0
Router and Satellite Firmware V3.2.16.6_1.4.4

I think I have it figured out - at least this is what worked on my device (iPhone 10, software version 14.1):
1. Delete any and all Netgear apps - I had the Orbi app (home system) and Nighthawk app (cabin system)
2. Download the Orbi app from app store
3. Open app from device, NOT from app store
4. Follow prompts (e.g., allow network access, allow location access, etc.)
5. Sign in - interestingly the old sign in (email address and Netgear password) no longer works, I had to sign in with the admin account information and password as if I was logging in from my computer's web browser
Once signed in you should have access to all the same features as you did previously. My guess with the iOS14.x upgrades there are some changes to security that are creating these issues.
Yes Apple has put some new features in to iOS 14.x Sounds like NG has also adjusted for this.
Thanks for letting us know. Hopefully this helps others.

I have trhe RBK853 and have been seeing the very same thing, if i leave it a bit, say a day or so I cannot get to the admin interface, I also cannot get on the orbi app, I use the Orbi App on Android not on IOS.
I notice I can ping the router no problem and a port scan shows its still listening on port 80 and 443 but no way to connect to it at all. Other than that everything operates as expected Wifi doing what it does internet fine etc just no management and no use of the features I nwant to use in terms of shuttings kids internet off etc when i want as the app is unresponsive.
If I reboot it lets me in again, but again only for a day or so (sometimes just hours)
Its almost like the web server for the interface is crashing.

- This issue was the final straw for me , sold my rbk 852 and got the asus xt8. Beautiful, reliable app and no issues whatsoever.

Having the same issue on my RBK852. I just did a clean install 3 weeks ago. Neither the app nor 192.168.1.1 on the computer let's me get in. Rebooting the Orbi allows me access for about a day and then back to nothing. Reinstalling the app (iPhone 11) does absolutely nothing. I should NOT have to redo my whole setup whenever there is a firmware update on either Orbi's side or phone manufactures side and since I can't even use 192.168.1.1 from my computer to get in, this is on Netgear ONCE AGAIN.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? What happens if you disconnect the WAN cable from the RBR that goes to the ISP modem? Can you access the UI then at 192.168.1.1?
What browser are you using?

And when did you first notice this problem?
- RafSApprentice
I first noticed this about 10 days ago. Comcast is the provider and the modem is a Netgear CM1100. Orbi is running firmware 3.2.16.6.

I have had this issue for some time. It was long before the current App and FW releases that people are siting or threads that are popping up in the forum. So it's not new for me.
I have noticed, as I think has been posted, that I have no problems with access with a Browser (HTTP/HTTPS) or the App when the RBR has no connection to the Internet or right after a Power Cycle that gives me a limited amount of time to access. The RBR can be connected and operational with my ONT operational, in my case, but with no Internet connection from the ISP. I have no issues accessing the RBSs (2) using HTTP via a browser. The is no "DeBug" access either on the RBR, but the RBSs are fine. Then out of the blue, sometimes access just happens. All during this the Router aspect of the RBR and RBSs works just fine with no hiccups.
My current setup:
· Calix ONT (940/940Mbps Fiber) > Orbi 850 in Router Mode connected via PPPoE, WAN VLAN Tagged, FW: 3.2.16.12_1.4.4 > LAN several CAT8 Trunks to switches . . .
· Two (2) RBSs connected on the 5GHz WLAN.
· Orbi App 2.6.4.1265 on Samsung Galaxy Tab A running One UI 2.5 and Android 10.
· Hardwire from a MacPro running 10.14.6 using most any browser out there.
For years I have had discussions with Netgear in regard to the way they use HTML in their UI and website pages. And now with browsers, first of all Chrome and Chrome based, screening out HTTP addresses for HTTPS and denying access. NG still has their UI HTML pages as HTTP where I have gotten security warnings, if not out and out blocks. So this latest issue, I feel is an external HTML and Orbi Onboard Server conflict. Probably most likely the internal server. When I go to access the RBR is see in the staus of the browsers that they are waiting for a reply from 192.168.0.1, until they timeout. The Orbi App just fails and goes to the Try Again page where none of the options work either. And for years even the way these forum pages work there are things that are not normal or proper for conflict free use.

Brand new RBK853 unboxed and installed on Tuesday 10th Nov. RBR850 is running in Router mode, with PPPoE ISP connection. All devices updated to V3.2.16.6_1.4.4 immediately after setup completed. On Thursday 12th Nov, devices were able to connect to WiFi but there was no internet. Orbi app on Android connected to WiFi would not connect and devices connected to WiFi could not access the router admin web page (router IP address is 192.168.63.1). Router LED was purple. I have had 3 different devices performing PPPoE on this connection previously and have never had an issue with any of them. Logs from some smart devices show they lost connectivity to the cloud around 10pm on Wednesday 11th Nov, so the RBR850 ran for less than 36 hours before apparently having this issue. Rebooted RBR850 and all has been working ok since (approx 17 hours).
- When did the issue start to happen? Was it only after updating the firmware v3.2.16.6? Less than 36 hours after installation
- Router IP (192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1) 192.168.63.1
- Firmware version V3.2.16.6_1.4.4
- App version Android app V2.6.4.1265
- Android / iOS version Android v11
- Network Setup RBR850 in router mode with PPPoE, 2 satellites both connected, Armour not enabled- Router LED status if issue re-occur Purple

Not sure if this will be of any help, however something to try and see:

Yesterday they released 3.2.16.22 firmware that for me fixed many things, mainly accessing the RBR from hardwired and WLAN devices and through the Orbi App. To install the new FW you'll need to download it from FW v3.2.16.22 and what I needed to do was Power Cycle the RBR to gain access to the RBR so I could update. Update the RBSs first, then the RBR, "always". But that's once you, it sounds like, finally connect to the Internet.
Who is your ISP? Do they use a Tagged VLAN on the WAN connection? Mine connected to my ONT with Centurylink as my ISP requires a Tagged 201 VLAN on the WAN connection in addition to the PPPoE login. When I redo the setting on my RBR and forget the Tagged VLAN I the pink light on the RBR and no Internet connection. While the LAN and all the devices on it work as they should, but have no Internet connection.

Just about 24 hours since installing (Dirty) FW v3.2.16.22 and all is mostly well. I have been able to get into the RBR via a hardwire and WLAN connections and the Orbi App (Android) at anytime without any special actions. Although the Orbi App is connecting, it keeps crashing back to the "Detecting Product" page. I have tried many things to cause the crash and the only thing I can think of is it's losing its connection to the RBR since it crashes back to the "Detecting Product" page. Last I did get two enteries for the RBR, one showing the RBR850 with a Green Dot and "Connected Locally"; the other showing the RBR850 with a Red Dot and "Disconnected" with the serial number. Also I'm still getting weird results on speed tests through the app.
I would also post about this over in the Orbi app forum Sir Orbi...

Hows the firmware holding up now FarmerBob1 ?, it must be 48hrs since the last post has it continued to allow you access to the admin interfaces ?
Many thanks
Kevin

- mapotter99ApprenticeAdd me to the list of people this is happening to. I have an RBR850 with two satellites.
The interface not loading is the most obvious problem, but there are other signs of flakiness that go along with it. I can’t add new HomeKit items, and existing items stop working. Rebooting the router resolves this also.Just FYI all,
Since I did a manual update of the firmware, the interface has been stable for over a week now!
Firmware:V3.2.16.22_1.4.9
Good News, did you factory reset after the update or just continue?
