ReadyNAS Pro: System temp running out of spec
In the last weeks I did have several times where the CPU temp ran out of spec. What's annoying to me is that the cpu fan runs at maximum 1506 rpm?! Shouldn't it rotate much higher to avoid temp running out of spec?
Any idea what to do? A calibration of the cpu fan is not offered within frontview...
Thanks in advance for any hint!

- Thanks for the system log. it looks like system temperature and not CPU.
Temp 1 is for System and Temp 2 is for CPU. - beisser1Tutor

Temp 1 is for System and Temp 2 is for CPU.
maybe temp 1 and temp 2 should/can be renamed to reflect this?
does that mean the system is allowed to get up to 85°C in the ultra? hard to believe :)
this sounds more like a limit for cpu-temperature on the atom cpu :) - the_evaluatorAspirantwait a sec- before we disregard this completely- i've got to chime in and also say i've had the same behavior. right now, on a pro with 4 1 tb drives running 4.2.13 just upgraded, i'm seeing the system fan never exceed 1000 RPM's. it usually runs about 900 RPM since the last two firmware updates, which means i get a temp warning about once a week.
i don't see this with my CPU temp, because that fan consistently runs at about 2000 RPM.
Until updating the firmware over the past two month cycle, i've never received any temp warnings at all- and i don't recall the system fan running that low. i know it's bigger, which means lower RPMs, but this seems too slow.
can anyone chime in on this thread and share your Pro fan RPM's running 4.2.13? Jedi's? this is with two drive bays empty as well mind you... - mattseattleAspirantMine is also doing something very similar. My Pioneer Pro is currently running with the below temp specs. The ambient temperature in the room is 74 degrees, just for information purposes.
Fan SYS 883 RPM
Fan CPU 1985 RPM
Temp 1 65 C / 149 F [Normal 0-65 C / 32-149 F]
Temp 2 27.5 C / 81 F [Normal 0-60 C / 32-140 F]
Temp 1 is definitely running higher than it normally has in the past and the RPM of the SYS fan is running much lower.
and as I was typing this in I received the following email alert:
Temperature sensor 1 reports out of normal range [expected range: 0-65C/32-149F, current: 66.0C/150.8F].
Why is the SYS fan RPM not increasing with the higher temperatures?
Ok, after the Alert my SYS fan RPM has increased slightly...
Fan SYS 1231 RPM
and temp has dropped to Temp 1 64 C / 147 F beisser wrote: Jedi Knight wrote: Thanks for the system log. it looks like system temperature and not CPU.

I put in the enhancement request to Label the Temp 1 and Temp 2 to reflect either System or CPU Temp.
Again, this need to support all x86 model to display correctly..- damon1AspirantI just upgraded to 4.2.13 and am now getting temp errors when I wasn't before.
Temperature sensor 1 reports out of normal range [expected range: 0-65C/32-149F, current: 66.0C/150.8F].
My fan speed is 1371rpm for the sys. 2083rpm for the CPU
-----I re-calibrated the fan and speeds and temps are about the same ---- - muleAspirantSorry for mixing things up regarding temp1 and temp2 (would be great to give them real names as already suggested)! I just edited the subject correctly.
But the issue still exists and i'm not alone as reading the posts from other users.
Today i got 4 new messages telling me once again that the system temp ran out of spec though the pro stands totally free to all sides and i didn't even use it the time the messages popped up!
Calibrating the system fan doesn't help either!
So does anyone has a clue of what's going on here? Does it really run out of spec or is it just a wrong indication within frontview?
TheMule! - rvaniderAspirantI have been getting similar behaviour since 4.2.10. Temp1 runs up to 65C and the fan will kick up to 2000+ to bring it down after the sensor warning. Calibration does not seem to correct the issue but rather generates even more alerts. When the fan kicks in at full speed (is 2000 the top speed?) the temp drops to 53C but the fan will eventually drop to about 1000 and the temperature will slowly rise until the alert fires again.
- muleAspirantWhat rvanider describes exactly seems exactly to match with my experience.
So for me it seems that the system fan's low threshold is set incorrectly while being calibrated or that the temperature curve is not beeing set correctly... - mattseattleAspirantAgreed... calibration has no bearing on my temp warnings. It will ramp the fan up for a few minutes but then throttles back down to about 800 - 900 rpm and the temp will climb back up.
