Hi, my company recently purchased an XS716T. While configuring it I stumbled over a problem regarding NSDP (“Netgear Switch Discovery Protocol”, I suppose?): The syslog is spammed once a second with the following pair of messages: <11> Nov 6 18:41:28 sw-a-14.cb.switches-1 General[nsdpTask]: nsdp_control.c(1777) 6216407 %% NSDP could not create the socket - No such file or directory
<11> Nov 6 18:41:28 sw-a-14.cb.switches-1 General[nsdpTask]: nsdp_control.c(1510) 6216406 %% osapiSocketBind failed - Address already in use Also there is an nsdp process which hogs the CPU: CPU Utilization:
PID Name 5 Secs 60 Secs 300 Secs
---------- ------------------- -------- -------- --------
1270 (nsdp) 81.48% 85.63% 85.33% (The actual values sometimes go down to ca. 75% or up to ca. 95%). While the log messages are only annoying, the worst they can do is possibly hiding a messages that would actually be interesting, and filling the disk of our remote receiver of the syslog messages. However, I’m concerned about the CPU utilization. If one process occupies so much CPU time, other processes may starve, and the high utilization may cause higher CPU temperature, and thus possibly reduce the life time of the CPU or the fans (and therefore the switch). The firmware is 7.0.20.0 (current at the time of writing). Any input from the Netgear engineering department about what’s going on here, and whether this is expected behaviour? Thank you for your help, Tobias

This is a small detail but I really don't want to have my wifi password on the the home dashboard... there is no advantage for it... it's like an home easy device... but here it's a Pro one..

Today when you go to the web page to administer the router, you have a pop'up for authentication... I would like a webpage so I can hook a password manager and have an autofill with a complex password and will avoid a stupid copy-past or an easy-password.

You should not advertise a product as a 'Smart' switch when you do not provide the most basic and rudimentary functions that people are used to on a smart switch. Showing the MAC addresses connected to the switch is a level 1, basic verification and troubleshooting technique. This is my first use of Netgear switches and I am incredibly disappointed and surprised that you would not provide a way to see which MAC addresses are connected to the switch. All your competition do this with their smart switches (TP-Link) - Cisco etc. Please add this feature to the Smart Managed Plus series as you do with the Smart Managed Pro series. I just found out the difference with your support. Thanks.

The data sheet on these switches indicate that link aggrigation is available on 16 port and larger. This seems to be the only features excluded on the GS308E. I would like to see this included as a feature in a furture firmare. Thanks.

Hi, I would really appreciate having in the web based management the capability to turn on/off radio and define schedules for radio on WAC510 access point . This is available on WAC720 and WAC730. That feature is only available on the insight pro. Having 2 AP, I do not see the point of paying insight pro subscription only for that feature. Thanks Netgear for considering that option. David

I would suggest you add the ability to name a port on all your managed switches. I have a few of your Prosafe Plus switches and it would have been really helpful to have to be able to give them a name. Thanks

I would like to see SNMP monitoring added to a future firmware release. Tracking port usage and monitoring basic switch health is central to "managed" switch functionality. Having to connect to a web interface to check the switch status is a reactive appoach. Adding SNMP would be welcome addditon.

Please add compatability for all Business switches to be managed by the Smart Control Center. Managing all devices through one pane (or even just centrally list and enable one click access) is what drove me to select your Business line of Switches as our new standard switch of choice. Almost every other line of software, hardware, and security provider is going (or has gone) to single pane management. Please don't make the mistake of completely abandoning one of the best ideas you've had in the last decade. Sincerely, A Dedicated I.T Guy

Hello, I own multiple Netgear gigabit capable devices with varying support for Link Aggregation functionality between Static LAG and LACP IEEE 802.3ad options. There does not seem to be a consistent implementation of the link aggregation protocols in firmware between pieces of Netgear equipment -- which I would expect to be more compatibile with each other instead of incompatible. While I don't have experience with using Netgear Link Aggregation with other vendor solutions, I worry there would be compatibility issues there too considering the inconsistent protocol availability between devices. Specifically I'm looking for either LACP and/or LAG in both the JGS524Ev2 or GS116EV2 switches and the R8500 Wifi Router. The ask here is a FIX to the problem via firmware updates which would provide for consistently available industry standard multi-gigabit link aggregation protocol support between -- at the very least -- Netgear's own equipment offerings. Considering the fact that I can't use my Netgear Nighthawk Wifi Router (with 2-port LACP-IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation) and neither my Netgear 16 nor 24 port semi-smart switches with Static LAG support in combination with each other, it is very frustrating. Is there any chance that Netgear engineers can breathe some more useful life into this gear by adding software for compatible and interoperable link aggregation? I would like to think it should be possible since it's just software after all? Thank you in advance for the consideration! Please vote for this idea if you have or ever plan to use link aggregation on your Netgear or other networking devices.

Dear Netgear, Can you make the scheduling of POE ports on the GS110TP more flexible? At this moment you can only use one plan, but what is you want to make it flexible? Like you want to have different schedule times in week days and weekends, or a schedule that start 4 times a day? I am used to the scheduling in my old Netgear R7000 router and this way way more advanced. Things would be solved if you can choose more timer config per port. I think this is simple to inplement. Thank you. Regards, Wim

Guys, How about allowing different radio on\off timings between the different SSID's please???? This way, different workers or memebers of a houseold could have access at tdifferent times of the day.... i.e. Children within a houseold could only have access during the daytime 😉 Can this doen allowed for in a Firmware update??
