XR500 drops internet
I am having an issue where the internet stops working..... I have 2 Xbox ones being used and they randomly disconnect and now the wifi doesn't work either. The wifi is connected but no internet. One xbox is hard wired. I have to reboot the router multiple times to get everything back online. I am using the cm1000 modem and also the x4s mesh extender on my network.
The firmware has now been publicly released: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-Routers/New-Firmware-for-XR500-2-3-2-32-fixes-disconnection-issue/m-p/1636839#M3864
If you are having a disconnection issue, please upgrade to this firmware (or a later one in the future). Thank you everyone for your patience

Thanks for the firmware. No issues encountered currently. I am running verizon fios 1gb plan.
I am running three Linksys lapac2600 attached to the netgear xr500. This firmware fixed two belikin wemo mini that kept getting disconnected on reboot of router. still takes a good 5 minutes fior them to show up correctly, after reboot of router. When running speedtest.net i get a higher upload speed. Before i was getting 330 and now i consisntantly get 360-370. Download speed is more consistent. Overall the new firmware seems to work much better. Keep up the good work.
- CommTech4AspirantI installed the firmware that you provided and it seemed to address the wireless portion of the problem but the ethernet connections still malfunction. To sum up the issue again, everyday the connections would still be there but without internet access. When this would occur, I would still be connected but unable to access the router menus until a reset had been completed. After installing the firmware that you provided, the issue doesn't happen over wifi and I'm also able to reach the router menu through those wireless connections. It would appear that my wired devices are showing a failing static ip although nothing is static. It also shows my ip address on these wired devices as random ip addressess and not those that were assigned through DHCP. This problem only seems to occur the next day and it will last until the router has been reset. I wanna get this fixed in the next few days before my return window expires and I'm stuck with a $300 brick.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerIf you give the wired devices static IPs does that resolve the issue? If not I'd highly recommend contacting Netgears 24/7 support number to see if they can help.

I haven't been here in a while and noticed several folks having internet drop outs similar to what I have been experiencing at random. Can I request to have this firmware availabe to me so I can install on my router? Seems this firmware is currently not available officially.

I would like to try the new beta firmware please, Thanks.
I have an issue in that when my xbox on is in instant on mode I lose my wired connection to my XR500. The only way to resolve is to reboot the router. Happens everytime my xbox is in instsant on, which is nnoying as I try and leave it in this mose in order to download updates etc. Nothing else loses connection, just my xbox. Tried all sorts to resolve this but cannot find a solution. Very frustrating.

Installed the newer firmware. It was chugging along good. I hooked up my xbox one last night, and watched a 4k movie. (xbox received updates when I plugged it back in.) This morning I went to my computer(hard wired), and no internet. I unplugged the Xbox and rebooted the modem.
Firmware: V2.3.26
- Netduma_JackNetDuma PartnerRadiax - thanks for the update. Leave the Xbox fully powered off when you’re not using it and see if this fixes your issue. Would be useful to know if so.
- SneakeyPeteyAspirantHaving same issues here. Very frustrating. Is this firmware from this post not the current firmware now? If not, can you please provide to me.

So the firmware you provided worked for 5 days, then last night the router lost all internet for about a minute, then it booted back up. Any suggestions is appreciated.

I gave in and called my isp I guess all my problems are because of my isp they said they could see my Internet shorting in and out on there end.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerSo it did an automatic restart? That's a different issue. Could be DHCP Lease Renewal, have you had it again since then?

i get DHCP Lease Renewal multiple times per hour and i lose internet connection all the time whats up with this router not worth the money ...

We are having a similar issue, where we will be watching our smart TV and all of a sudden the internet connection fails. We check our phones or computers when this happens and they are still connected just fine. After a few minutes, the TV can find the network again and will reconnect. Before you say it is the TV... we bought a new TV, a different brand, to replace the one this happened on and it is happening on the new TV also. The TV is less than 20 feet from the modem/router and is almost in direct line of sight. It has also happened on husband's xbox1 but only once or twice. It happens to the TV several times every day. It's frustrating. Help!
