XR500 drops internet
I am having an issue where the internet stops working..... I have 2 Xbox ones being used and they randomly disconnect and now the wifi doesn't work either. The wifi is connected but no internet. One xbox is hard wired. I have to reboot the router multiple times to get everything back online. I am using the cm1000 modem and also the x4s mesh extender on my network.

I too am having this issue as of two days ago. The router is just dropping randomly. Any chance to get that firmware?

I have the firmware from Fraser installed but an still have "no internet" problems. What now?
- Netduma_JackNetDuma PartnerDo you mean you literally have no internet or that it keeps dropping out?
If no internet at all then I recommend a factory reset to go through the setup tour again.
If it’s just drop outs, could you describe exactly what happens. Does the whole router lose WiFi or power off? When this happens, can you connect to your modem to see if it still hasn’t Internet. It’s possible your whole line is dropping so it’s important to isolate where the problem is.

I'm experiencing internet issues approximately every 24 hours. I don't have an XBOX or Windows PC on my network. I do have a PS4, several Apple products, smart lights, etc. Is there any value in me trying the firmware that's been mentioned throughout this post?
- Altair_VolansAspirantHaving the same issues, 5ghz band goes out, along with internet light usually. 2.5ghz band stays up for a bit, then device resets and comes back working. Repeats every 10min-4hrs.

During the laset 2 days the router is just dropping randomly.
It was unable to reconnect (internet led=red), so an hard reset was required. I tried the reconnect/disconnect from the UI but it didn't work.
Never had any issues during the last year with the previous router (a cheap 4020 fritz).
Those 4-5 disconnections were during the downloading of Warcraft client (about 60GB), never experienced during the week before.
If a firmware is available i'dd like to try it (got the latest installed)

- IcanhascamaroAspirantI just got this about three weeks ago. Sometimes it has 289mb/s, sometimes it’s 25 or 12. Got this to replace an R7000 and this is worse than that one. It keeps dropping devices, and obviously the speeds are so weird that it almost feels bipolar. Did a speed test yesterday and it was clocking 280, just did a test now and it’s 23 download and 12 upload.
I bought a brand new CAT6 cable on the sales guy’s suggestion, so I don’t think the cable is the problem. Comcast is our service provider and they just sent a new modem a couple of months ago. Please help or this hawk is gonna have to be flying back to Best Buy. 😢- Netduma_JackNetDuma Partner

Are these speed drops happening just on wireless or on wired devices too?

- Ive tried everything with the xr500 it seems to run a lot better with the old firmware but the usb 3.0 ports will cause the router to reboot when you use it so stay away.its sad that you pay $299 for a product that’s such a headache I’m gonna just return this because netgear support suck really bad I feel they don’t know there own products
- Netduma_JackNetDuma PartnerSorry to hear that. If you still own it, you could try downgrading the USB to 2.0 through the readyshare setting and see if that solves the problem.

It has been a little over a week and I have not experienced any problems with the switch, since I tried that downgraded firmware. I did have the Xbox one unplugged the whole time too. I have plugged it back up today and will see how it goes.

I am at a lost I spent many many hours on the phone with sony trying to troubleshoot why my tv loses . when watching the network monitor my tv will run around 22mbs while streaming a 4k movie all of sudden it will drop down to.0002 and the movie will buffer forever. A few minutes ago I ran a speed test to see if i lose 100% net . Currently my net will still run a speed test while my tv has no net. I have ran the tv hardwired and wireless same results.I also have ran my tv through a s8000 to see if that would help but no luck also.

As I stated yesterday, I was up and running for over a week without any issues. I plugged my xbox one is last night, I watched a program from Plex off of the Xbox One. When I got off of work today, I have no internet and needed to restart my router. I have unplugged my Xbox one again.

still cant get a 4k movie to stream from my tv I am thinking its a comcast problem probably. I did notice something strange tho I have my modem then my router then off my router I have a nighthawk x6 in ap mode. My sony4k blu ray player can't find a internet connection if I have it going through the xr500 it says failed even hardwired ,but if i go wireless to the x6 that feeds the xr500.it I can get on the net

so i mostly play just leauge of legends, when i play hooked straitght to the moden im at 24 ping, when i go through router i am 27-28, not a huge difference, but still larger than it should i believe, but the more inportant thing is it feels really laggy, for example last hititng seems very dificult since the last router update. so my question is what should the amount of ping added be going through the router? i would guess less than one or around one millisencond not 3-4. would this new beta firmware help me? btw i have already changed all the settings i could think of to give league priority.

I am experiencing the exact same issue that others have mentioned. I noticed it occurs when both my PS4s are connected. I have factory reseted the router with no success. My router says I have the latest firmware. I did notice in the logs random DoS attacks so not sure if that is the cause. Any help provided is appreciated!

Thank you! How do I install this on my router? Also, is there any advice you can provide on properly setting up my router for the best performance? I saw some messages talking about approve game listings that Netgear has, but I do not recall ever finding that in the admin settings. Thank you!
