How do I turn off Armor/Bitdefender on my Orbi Router
I foolishly accepted trying Netgear's Armor by BitDefender on my Orbi Router mesh and it is now blocking long-used very safe sites that I urgently need for my work, yet there is not obvious way to either register a URL as safe (at least for me) or to turn off Armour before the trial period expires. HELP!!!!

- JamShadyInitiateThat option is not available to me, either on Android, iOS or the web portal. There is no option to turn it off. When you click on security, it just takes you to another screen that shows the router, subscription and selected devices. No toggle to turn it off.
edit: ok, restarting the app forced it to appear, what bad clunky design- Laff2Initiate
Start on main screen on the house in circle icon
Go to settings
Go to Security
Toggle off "Enable NETGEAR Armor"
Disable it and you'll discover (like I did) that toggling the on/off switch is useless. Even if you factory reset, Netgear Armour will automatically be reinstalled and activated. Sites continue to be blocked. They got us! What a scummy company!

Interesting your still having issues when you toggle it off. Once I turned it off using the toggle it solved my upload performance issue and appears it is not blocking any websites. The app icon still shows the subscription as "active" but the service is off. This doesnt really help you, but just letting you know how it behaved for me.

That's not helpful at all. Please share specific instructions how to remove and disable BitDefender.

I use the iphone app so here's what i did while in the app:
In the upper left-hand corner there is a icon of a circled house. Click that
Next choose "Settings"
Next choose "Security"
Turn off the "Enable NETGEAR Armour" switch.
hope that helps.

Perfect!
I was able to do this on my Android based Orbi App as well.- icanhelppplInitiate
For iOS click the cloud in the top left corner then settings then security then you may toggle it off from there!
- IanB1015AspirantWhile this is helpful shutting it off, I wish I could exclude IP addresses entirely from the app or from the router GUI. It would make life a whole lot easier because I only want to exclude the one work device.

How did you get it "shut off"?
- No matter how many times I turn off armor in settings/security, it is still activated. I do not want this trial subscription and I hate this orbi router. Customer support is abysmal and the product came without instruction manual. Told me to log into their website. Without internet I could not do so.

Armor stinks, DO NOT USE IT! If it blocks a site that you may want, you cannot manage it. You have to submit a request to bitdefender to make the fix.
To add misery to the pain, now I have disabled Armor, but it is STILL blocking sites. Will try a reboot of my Orbi to see if that fixes it. If a reboot doesnt work, I am probably on my way to a factory reset to blow Armor settings out.
If you, your spouse or kids play games on a phone or tablet, Armor will label any of the "bonus" ads as spam and block them. Kids and wife were complaining all night last night.

I had to turn it off because it was affecting my upload speed. I have a FIOS connection with 200/200. With Armor on i was getting 30 mbs upload. As soon as i turned it off, 250 Mbs! It was also blocking my work VPN.

I AGREE. They force you to buy the bitdefender product. in case you opt for the trial by mistake or inadvertently, after its expiration, several sites and downloads including from Netflix will not work. When you go to the security button and click on it, it takes you directly to site for netgear to BUY!! WHY?!! someone should file a suit for misleading information and do a class action
I've tried everything I could think of. Now hoping software will stop working after trial subscription ends. Very limited internet until then other than direct connections to ISP cable modem. If it presists after that, I'll just buy a new router. Basically, Netgear has infected its own customers with malware.
- PoolBallGuideUse the Android or IOS app via phone to turn off Armor. Goto Settings, Security. Menu icon is in top corner of app display.
- Start the App. On the main menu there should be a home icon on the top left. Click that. Then click on the settings, should be top options. Then click on security. Then disable it.
- That didn’t work.

Hi Goudbezie . From the Orbi app on your device, go to settings, security, and disable Armor. That's all you have to do. Armor will always be there, ready to be re-activated, because it is part of the Orbi software. But as long as you disable it in the app, it's no longer functional.

As many others have said, including me, turning off Armor, does NOT remove the website BLOCKING issue. It obviously should, but for some unexplained reason (other than yearly re-occurring revenue to Netgear) they have chosen to force this malware on their unsuspecting customers. As others have said, I also will NEVER be a Netgear customer again‼️

Hello Tom4278 & ColoradoBound,
May you confirm that Armor is disabled when looking at the Security Tile of the Nighthawk or Orbi app.
Thanks,
Christian

How do I turn Armor off?!? After I set it back up, it's literally blocking every website or iOS interaction I am having. I have to use a separate router connection instead of my Orbi. Help!!!
- Do a complete factory reset. It will ask if you want to turn on/add extra protection/bitdefender. Just click no or skip step.

I tried all of this. Ended up using chat through the app on my phone. They got me into the site on my laptop. It's an IP conflict which resolves itself when you get into your account onilne. No more 404's!
Totally worth the frustration. Ordi is fantastic!

After reading through this thread you have all convinced me not to enable this malware. Thanks for taking the arrow for the rest of us. IMHO, cloud management is an invitiation for cloud-based compromise. I would be happy to have a plain old AP. But I am forced to buy an expensive AP, firewall, router combination.

I am having the same problem
I do not want this awful malfunctioning price of turd blocking sites I know well
its even blocking product descriptions on eBay !
i can't turn it off from the app ..
if I can't turn it off I will get rid of this modem and go back to Apple which worked out if the box with no problems

DexterJBIf you know of how to disable this obnoxious, intrusive software, share it with the group instead of it a secret. There are plenty of people that have been hooked into this subscription service that they don't want and want to get out of without purchasing new hardware. This kind of trap-ware is going to convince people to install open source firmware such as DD-WRT or OpenWRT on your hardware.
- bsandInitiateI am having exactly the same issue! I fell for the free trial of Netgear Armour and my upload speed went down tremendously. I get the purchase page when I try to get to the security settings to turn it off. My trial is up so they want me to buy Armour in order to disable it?! I uninstalled the Orbi app on my phone and reinstalled and went through set up again only to find the Armour still blocking my way to the security settings. Wifi speed is still slow. I really would appreciate one of those “messages” others are getting on this link so I can avoid tossing this whole Orbi system into the trash!!

Hello bsand,
May you provide a screenshot of the error/issue you're experiencing. Specifically when going to Settings > Security and tapping on the toggle to disable Armor.
Thanks,
Christian
