XR500 drops internet
I am having an issue where the internet stops working..... I have 2 Xbox ones being used and they randomly disconnect and now the wifi doesn't work either. The wifi is connected but no internet. One xbox is hard wired. I have to reboot the router multiple times to get everything back online. I am using the cm1000 modem and also the x4s mesh extender on my network.
The firmware has now been publicly released: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-Routers/New-Firmware-for-XR500-2-3-2-32-fixes-disconnection-issue/m-p/1636839#M3864
If you are having a disconnection issue, please upgrade to this firmware (or a later one in the future). Thank you everyone for your patience

my connection drops randomly, I was having this issue for the past 1 month, I thought it was my isp but it is not, I tried with another router working fine. I noticed that when I was streaming on ps4 and someone watches youtube at the same time due to heavy usage it freeze and disconnect all connection. A router of this price at least can handle this bandwidth.
Note: ps4 on a wired connection.
please help me with this.

- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerLooks like you're on the XR700 and not XR500. I'd recommend creating your own topic as it's likely a different issue. Sounds like you need to either update to the latest firmware or ensure you're using QoS so you're not saturating your connection.

My internet connection drops once a week, usually during the middle of the night when no one in the household is online. We wake up to find no Internet, but VoIP phone still working. I reboot the XR500 and modem and connection is restored for another week. I am on the latest firmware and have done factory reset per suggestions in this thread. Please help.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many? You might try reverting back to v32 FW, reset and setup from scratch and see if it still happens...

ISP is Optimum Online. Modem is supplied by them Arris TM1602. It's not a WiFi issue or signal issue because when I lose Internet the internet light on the router goes from green to red.
- NoUse4NamezAspirantMine was dropping out ran.
I restored firmware to previous version.
Still had random drop but would come right back up on its own.
Been about three weeks now with no drops.

We are having the same issue. I will still shows as connected to my network but no internet and we have updated the firmware on our router to that version.
We have 2 XBOX One S's and I will be in a lobby and then all of a suddent be dropped and my husband who is just on a webpage will get the no internet error but shows him completely connected to the network but no internet and our internet service provider says we have not lost internet to the modem in months.
I have also swapped out the ethernet running between the modem and the router.
ANy other suggestions besides that firmware update because I have it and it has done nothing.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerAre the consoles in instant on mode or any other devices in standby mode? If so turn that off and see if that resolves your issue please.

I am having the same issue after 5-10mins my XR500 drops internet and I can't even access the router anymore, if I restart the router it works again for 5-10mins, I don't have any Xbox I tried to update the firmware with the one you provided + factory reset but I still have the same problem. I don't know what else I can do

So I am having the same issue with the drop of internet and the only way to get it to come back up is to turn off the router for a few and turn it back on then it works fine as long as anything hardwired is online. If anything goes on standby for more then 4- 5 hours I wil lose connectivity. I did the hot fix to no avail. I'm hoping there is a update soon as this is becoming very annoying.

I am having the router drop internet as well. In my case the router seems to reboot. If left alone long enough it will come back or resetting it does the same. I have isolated the issue in my instance to amazon devices. If I unplug my amazon echoes this issue will not happen. When looking at the routers log, it seems as if the router treats some chatter from the devices as dos attacks. I'm guessing after so many, the router crashes or reboots which is causing this error.
My question is, how do we fix this?
I'm having internet connection drop outs depite devices still being connected to the router.
This issue appears to be only affecting apple devices, which unfortunately is most of the devices in the house with the exception of my PC. I've not had a single drop out on it. Also, it appears to only happen late evening.
I've tried the latest firmware and the hotfix version.
One thing I noticed this morning was that the information log was reporting a ddos attack with the primary dns server being the source. This occurred at 8pm, which I believe was just before the issues occured.
I've been having no big issues after the firmware I installed, but there is an odd one. This has only happened twice; when I am streaming on my PC with OBS to Twitch, or when my girlfriend is streaming on her PS4 to Twitch, we've lost internet. Again, this has only happened twice. Many other times streaming it has not occurred.

Have you tried changing the DNS server on the router? Maybe to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4?
- bugisliveInitiateI am also getting random drops in my XR 500. I have to reset my cable modem then reset the router and unplug Ethernet cord from modem then insert it again to get it working again. Can you please send me hotfix please? Also my firmware version is v 2.3.2.40. Thanks.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerHere you are: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/28523-new-xr500-hotfix-firmware-for-drop-outs/ let us know if it resolves your issues.
Hi Fraser, I am already running the hotfix after investigating this issue on the forums. This issue has happened twice since being on the hotfix.

Anyone tried checking for new FW on there XR500?
- Xenos8Apprentice
I have not and plan to wait a while. My replacement XR500 has been stable for a week. Leaving well enough alone for a while.

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? I would try this first.
What browser are you using?

What devices get disconnected wired/wireless? Do you see the ping number but just not the graph line for ping?

I bought the xr500 a few months ago around june, it was working perfectly fine since then up until a week or so ago. I called in my isp technician to see if they could help with the issue but ultimately couldn't because it was my own hardware. I was however recommended to try a hardwire connection which I did and worked perfectly until today when I got disconnected from it twice, when I went to check on my router the internet LED was a dull orange then all the LEDs turned off except for the power which turned orange after a few short seconds all lights turned back on like normal as if nothing happened. I don't know why this is happening but when I looked into dumaos system information logs it said that there were dos attacks around the 2 times I did disconnect from the internet. I should mention that I did factory reset the router before and all the apparent issues were almost immediately solved, but now it seems they have returned. I have an arris surfboard model sb8200 for the modem my router is connected to. I am running V2.3.2.56 Firmware, any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm...
Could you set your current WAN settings as Static?
To do this:
- Get the WAN IP from System Information in DumaOS
- In Settings > Internet setup, set your IP as the WAN IP from previous step
- Set Subnet Mask as 255.255.255.0
- Set Gateway IP as the WAN IP but with the number after the third dot as a 1
- Example, 192.168.0.45 becomes 192.168.0.1
- Set DNS server as whatever you like, if not sure use 8.8.8.8, then 8.8.4.4, then Gateway IP
Hopefully that will stop it from getting thrown off.

I did as you said and set all but the subnet mask to the values you said to put there. All except the subnet mask were changed the 255.255.255.0 it wouldn't accept not really sure why, but everything else was fine, hoping this works!
